COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Just like those classic video games we all grew up with, 8-Bit Pale Ale is spectacularly simple at first glance yet remarkably fun and complex when you get into it. Our Hop Rocket infuses the character of Australian grown Galaxy Hops into an American Pale Ale, giving a unique tropical, almost melon aroma in a classic American style.

Tallboy from Binny’s Lakeview. Pours amber / yellow; thin head. Nose is mild hops with fruit / melon notes. Not as hoppy as some IPAish pale ales, but very tasty.

Can : Yes. The Can is the highlight element of this beer purchase. Copyright infringement? (Pacman) I wondered. Anyway - I went with a shaker pint glass for this one ; it pours fairly cloudly medium gold with a fluffy off white head present ; The nose is floral, with a mild tropical fruit bouquet. Melons... I suppose. Thanks to the Galaxy hops. This one is quaffable, subdued, mild sweet, caramel and bread, melons and florals, with mild bitterness. Its a nice drinker overall.

Gotta pump up the appearance to show my appreciation for this can art ! Pours a hazy golden color with a big three finger white sticky foam. Aromas are hop forward with soe grassy tropical fruit and a touch of melon rind. The palate follows the nose with a smooth round mouthfeel. Nice balance between hops and malts. Touch of cracker, spicy grass, fruit. Clean finish.

Can. Someone told me this was lot like 3Fs Gumball Head (even though that one uses a different hop varietal... and is a wheat beer...) and wow was he OFF (shoulda gone with my gut). Nose is boring malt and none of that Galaxy aroma that I’d hoped for. Mouth is malty, some hops but nothing stands out (advertised as Galactic, but coulda been any variety for that matter -- awful job showcasing). Finishes with some cereal. So far, that’s two Tallgrass beers I’ve tried since they entered the Chicago market, and two that I easily coulda lived without.

Dark straw coloured beer with a bit of a haze. Aroma is a bit of citrus and a bit of pine. Aroma is pretty light actually, but nice. Decent bitterness, with some fruity hops and some pine. Overall a nice beer.

Dark golden pour with a thick white head. Aroma is earthy/spicy hops. Taste is a fine balance of malt and hops. Spicy hops and a little caramel. It is a refreshing beer. OK lacing. Nice lingering aftertaste.

Shared 16 oz. can poured to snifters with a hazed, orangy color, a modest, soft white layer of head foam, and spotty lacing. The nose was citrus, grapefuit, a bit of mango, some resin, and a little dank grain. Moderately bitter, with a fair amount of supportive malt, a medium body, and dry finish. An okay Pale.

16 ounce can. The vintage arcade design on the packaging is one of my favorites in recent memory. It gives it an upbeat character before you even take a taste. I always welcome positive first impressions like that when there’s some thought and creativity put in and you’re given some idea of the personality of the brewers and the personality they want to impart on the consumer. The beer is a dark yellow gold with lots of white foam. It crackles with carbonation and has a light mouthfeel. The taste really hangs on in my mouth, very durable and satisfying. A bit piney and bitter in taste, tart even, which is surprising given the moderate ibu level. This may be a good one to focus in on the galaxy hop flavor package. Overall, it’s much more full flavored and fulfilling taste-wise than you’d expect with a 5.2% beer.

A really refreshing pale ale from a Kansas brewery I’ve yet to have anything negative from. Very piney and with a refreshing amount of hops that doesn’t overpower. Nice floral aroma, just a touch of resin. Great style example!
