Listen, I understand why beer snobs donít show more love for this beer as it is not all that amazing but finer craft beers usually are not "ballgame" beers that is you canít toss back a six pack during a game because they are just too rich. This is a ballgame beer that tastes great. I can drink several and not feel like I just ate a pound of chocolate.

Itís nice to see a reasonably good beer in a can, and a tallboy no less. But this wasnít the best beer among what I could find for sale in Custer State Park in South Dakota. Not especially rich palate, with moderate malty notes and a thinness that was suggestive of whatís happened to Guinness over the years. Can.

Pours a deep brown almost black with a medium creamy/bubbly tan head. Aroma of chocolate, tobacco, toffee, oats and a milky/vanilla sweetness. Flavor of chocolate, tobacco, toffee, nuts and vanilla.

Thanks to Dale for this tallboy Kansas tick... dark brown almost black, a big tan head, creamy with great retention and lace thatís full but doesnít stay super long, looking great... roasted coffee but a touch of generic chocolate, a little vanilla, very strong roast for a 5% sweet stout... wow, this is really sweet didnít see that coming at all after the nose, creamy with lactose sugar on the front, finish is a bit roasty adding nice balance, a lot going on and very drinkable, a touch to sweet for me and watery, but overall this is very solid

Can. Exceptionally beautiful pour for an American stout ... towering head of off-white foam over a pitch-black brew. The aroma is full of warming roasts. Although a little thin, the beer drinks with a nice rounded roasty flavor as well ... with a moderate bitter chocolate finish. Good stuff. (#4137, 6/12/2011)

Pint can pours dark black/brown with a small khaki head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, and coffee. Taste is sweet throughout with lactose sugars, chocolate with dry slightly bitter coffee finish. Pretty decent, drinkable.

Can. Black pour with a tall, frothy mocha colored head. Roasted malt, dark chocolate, soft ashy notes and burnt caramel in the nose. Taste is lactic/ sour chocolate milk, roasted malt, coffee, and dark chocolate. Body is medium with a creamy, dense carbonation. Finishes with more lactic notes, burnt oatmeal, cocoa, roasted malt, dark chocolate and coffee.

tallboy. roasted grain nose (oatmeal, barley, wheat / bread) with touches of floor cleaner and soy sauce. medium-light malt-forward body with strongly harsh edges. milk powder yeast blankets a roast and black patent-heavy malt showing: husky, crusty soy sauce-flavored roast with vegetable and butter notes developed with increasing temperature, turning it from forgettable and mediocre early to downright disgusting given enough time. yikes.
