COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
BUFFALO SWEAT
(ABV 5.0%, 20 IBU)

We love this beer here at the brewery, and think you will have one of those “I’ve never-tasted-a-beer-like-that” kind of moments when you try it!

What we really like about this beer is the smoothness that brewing with cream sugar brings to the palate. This smoothness balances out the copious quantities of roasted barley used in the brewing process to create a rich, complex, and delicious beer. If you have not been a stout drinker in the past, give this beer a try. It might just change your mind about how dark beers should taste. It tastes so rich, but is surprisingly easy to drink!

Can’t find the sweat? Don’t sweat it. Just ask for Buffalo Sweat at your local liquor store or your favorite tavern.

In short: A very lactic creamy dark ale. Slightly problematic
How: Bottle 12oz. Sent to me by… someone. Consumed relatively fresh after sitting in my cellar for about three months
The look: Dark mahogany body topped by a large beige head with low retention
In long: Shy nose of nougat and milk chocolate. Taste is very lactic, strong milky notes. Milk chocolate, vanilla, black liquorice candy, nougat. Fluffy creamy body similar to a cream ale on nitro. I was really bothered by a flavour of old past-due-date sour milk in the comeback. This is pretty bad. Most good cooks or brewers keep their special ingredients a secret, not this brewer, he even includes it in the name of the beer.

Bottled. Pours black with a medium brown head. Smells of coffee, oatmeal and chocolate. Flavors of burnt/toasted malt, chocolate and coffee. Not as sweet as i was expecting. Finished strong with a lingering taste of mocha.

Dark brown color/ fleeting head. Nice dark roasted malt, coffee, mocha aromas. Light to medium body. Lightly sweet chocolate mocha flavors with mild roasty malts, a bit thin.

A: The pour is a dark brown color with thick tan colored foam. Pretty standard appearance, here. S: The nose has a touch of burnt malt, with a very bready base aroma. There is a slight sweetness, which would make sense for the style. T: The flavor is almost identical to the nose. The burnt flavor is a bit less obvious with the breadiness coming through even more and just a touch of sweetness. M: The body is medium with a somewhat low level of carbonation, providing a smooth mouthfeel. D: It’s easy to drink, but I do not think I’d really want to have this one again. That said, it gets bonus points for a very creative name.

Aroma is very roasted with notes of espresso/dark coffee and an underlying sweetness. Flavor is less pronounced, with notes of coffee, espresso, sugar and malt. Mouthfeel is thin but maintains some creamy component. Not a bad sweet stout overall, but nothing that really stands out.

Ughsmash (7135) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 10, 2010
Bottled. Poured deep brown with a fine cap of tan head. The aroma was on the sweet and lightly roasty side, with milk chocolate and heavy cream leading.. a hint of sour charred black malts on the back.. sweet and desserty. The flavor found sweet chocolates and lesser vanilla at the core with milky sugars laced throughout.. touches of coffee and molasses on the edges.. finished with sweet milk chocolates and butter cream. Light-medium bodied and very sweet on the palate.. smooth flow across the palate with complementary lactose-like tanginess on the back. This was very, very drinkable.

12oz bottle served in a shaker pint. Poured a deep brown/black with a finger of dark tan head. Lots of chocolate and cocoa in the aroma. Lactose sweetness and chocolate malt dominate the flavor. Medium bodied and smooth. Some hop bitterness in the middle. Long dry finish of roasted barley/black patent. Just a hint of burnt flavor in the finish. Solid beer. One of the better Tallgrass offerings.

Bottle. Drinkable, but a tad too sweet. I was tired of it before I finished my first glass. This is the beer for soda drinkers or for those afraid of stouts.

Beautiful aroma of toasted coffee with some toffee. dark rich pour with lots of tan head. Taste is about the ssame as the as the nose....but it tastes severly watered down. nothing really lingering on the palate. if it would have a thicker mouthfeel this would be a much better beer.
