2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
16 oz. can. Pours black with a thin-moderate tan head that s gone almost immediately and leaves no lace. Pleasant aroma of chocolate with notes of roast and tobacco. The flavor is predominantly wet cardboard with tobacco. There is some roasted malt and chocolate present as well, but not enough to save the day. Mild bitterness at the finish.

So the Boise tramp had this in the box I found! WTF! The Boise beer scene is so good even the homeless trade. Epic. A light nose of fig and chocolate. Thin, dry, odd fruit, something sweaty and pear like. Caramel, very sweet. OK. The cream sugar is just odd, but a cool idea.

Can into a pint glass at a happy hour. The flaw with this is too watery - but itís still a good sweet stout.

Pours a dark coffee brown, almost black color with a dark khaki head. Aroma is sweet with hints of chocolate and coffee. Taste is very similar to aroma, balanced very well. The smooth drinking of this beer is where it really stands out, goes down very easily!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tall boy from France 44. Viscous dark brown pour, lightless and heavy-looking were it not for the elegant filmy head. Nose is nice rich chocolate and rolled oats, with just a kiss of inviting coffee too. Thick mouthfeel, could use just a scootch more carbonation perhaps, but itís right about where you want this style. Flavors are enjoyable, with a few additional hints of smoke, brown sugar, and molasses. But generally just a straight up, well done oatmeal stout.
