2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours a deep, rich onyx with an aroma of ho-hum cocoa, roasted malt, and chocolate bits. Flavor is a bitter cocoa, roasted nut, sweet syrup, and a touch of smoke with vanilla and tobacco. Average mouthfeel. This beer is a typical attempt by a mediocre brewery to replicate a sweet stout.

Tap at stubs. Dark with some red highlights, no head but decent lacing. Nose is mostly smoke, with some wood, some toffee malt notes. Taste is meh...some light smoke on the end, some odd fruit in the middle, a bit of dark malt throughout. Much too watery. Not a great beer.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
On tap at Old Chicago in Manhattan black with a creamy, dark tan head. The aroma is quite muted, primarily roasted malt and a touch of coffee. The mouthfeel is medium-bodied, lively and quite astringent. This beer literally strips all moisture from my tongue. The flavor is bitter chocolate & coffee with a lightly metallic and dry finish. This one takes the term "dry" stout to the extreme I finished this beer more thirsty than when I began it

Can from Normís. Pours a thin black with a light tan head. Very strong aroma, not particularly appetizing. Very metallic and almost like spoiled milk. Hints of roasted malt and chocoalte. Very sweet flavor with metallic caramel. Milk chocolate notes. Watery finish. Meh.

Iím just going to state this right up frontónot my style of beer. I didnít care much for this but that has nothing to do with Tallgrass per se.
