COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
BUFFALO SWEAT
(ABV 5.0%, 20 IBU)

We love this beer here at the brewery, and think you will have one of those ďIíve never-tasted-a-beer-like-thatĒ kind of moments when you try it!

What we really like about this beer is the smoothness that brewing with cream sugar brings to the palate. This smoothness balances out the copious quantities of roasted barley used in the brewing process to create a rich, complex, and delicious beer. If you have not been a stout drinker in the past, give this beer a try. It might just change your mind about how dark beers should taste. It tastes so rich, but is surprisingly easy to drink!

Canít find the sweat? Donít sweat it. Just ask for Buffalo Sweat at your local liquor store or your favorite tavern.

Wasnít crazy about this stout from KC. Lots of malt, little hops. Not impressed with this pint can midwest brewer.

Can from Normís. Pours a thin black with a light tan head. Very strong aroma, not particularly appetizing. Very metallic and almost like spoiled milk. Hints of roasted malt and chocoalte. Very sweet flavor with metallic caramel. Milk chocolate notes. Watery finish. Meh.

Iím just going to state this right up frontónot my style of beer. I didnít care much for this but that has nothing to do with Tallgrass per se.

16oz can. Pours dark brown with a small off white head that quickly diminishes to a thin film that leaves a little lacing.

The aroma is roasted malts and grains with some sweet chocolate and some ash.

The flavor is sweet grainy roasted malts with a little lactic chocolate. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and a little watery.

Overall, not a great stout.

Can: Charcoal and coffee nose. Black, thin tan head. Sweet coffee flavor, strong vegetal component. Lasting coffee finish. Certainly a sweet stout, but there are some glaring flaws. Bad sample, but I think the recipe is probably solid. The boiled cabbage just doesnít belong. Tainted and the Oasis ESB is better.

In short: A very lactic creamy dark ale. Slightly problematic
How: Bottle 12oz. Sent to me byÖ someone. Consumed relatively fresh after sitting in my cellar for about three months
The look: Dark mahogany body topped by a large beige head with low retention
In long: Shy nose of nougat and milk chocolate. Taste is very lactic, strong milky notes. Milk chocolate, vanilla, black liquorice candy, nougat. Fluffy creamy body similar to a cream ale on nitro. I was really bothered by a flavour of old past-due-date sour milk in the comeback. This is pretty bad. Most good cooks or brewers keep their special ingredients a secret, not this brewer, he even includes it in the name of the beer.

Pours thin and lite. Stout? Milk Stout? Buffalo Sweat Stout... I think that is it. Tastes of oversteapped tea that has been put into a milk style stout. Thin and roasty but not smokey... more burnt. Not a repeat offender.

UPDATED: MAR 15, 2010 I love stouts and all styles of stouts. I have even tolerated mediocre stouts. However, as the Tallgrass website states, after drinking it youíll say ďIíve never-tasted-a-beer-like-thatĒ . You are right this is one of the worst stouts ever tasted. It is a watered down version that hints at A-B or MillerCoors style of craft beer imitations. Did not detect the coffee, chocolate notes stated. Also, it does not appear to pour a deep, heavy brown like most stouts.

tallboy. roasted grain nose (oatmeal, barley, wheat / bread) with touches of floor cleaner and soy sauce. medium-light malt-forward body with strongly harsh edges. milk powder yeast blankets a roast and black patent-heavy malt showing: husky, crusty soy sauce-flavored roast with vegetable and butter notes developed with increasing temperature, turning it from forgettable and mediocre early to downright disgusting given enough time. yikes.

20 oz on tap. Black color, good adhesion. Decent head fades to slight collar. Smells a bit more like coffee than oatmeal. Disappointing overall. Taste is light and not full-bodied, contrasts with the appearance & aroma. Itís like they sort of gave up on it and threw hops at it. Nowhere near as good as Tallgrassí other beers (Oasis in particular). Pass.
