| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 27, 2009 Bottle. Drinkable, but a tad too sweet. I was tired of it before I finished my first glass. This is the beer for soda drinkers or for those afraid of stouts. iamqueensblvd (237), , Iowa, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Dec 27, 2009 Beautiful aroma of toasted coffee with some toffee. dark rich pour with lots of tan head. Taste is about the ssame as the as the nose....but it tastes severly watered down. nothing really lingering on the palate. if it would have a thicker mouthfeel this would be a much better beer. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 20, 2009 Bottle From Sir Kevin Scott from Spring Texas: This pours a dark brown/black with a frothy tan head atop. Nose was roasted malt and sour mash or lactic or something...a little tart is what im trying to say. Flavors were the same, lacticly tart roasted malt flavors, somewhat sweet, medium body. I must admit, stouts, other than imperial stouts, are not my fancy...but they exist am familiar with the style, and can treat them like the shit they are all i want. rader58 (195), Leawood, Kansas, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 18, 2009 Pours a deep dark brown/black with no head at all. Aroma is of a very strong coffee. Taste has a slight bitterness with a sweet finish. Flavors of coffee, roasted malt, brown sugar. Not bad at all. I am becoming more impressed with this young brewery. bearlybrewed (34), Colorado, USA
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Dec 15, 2009 I love stouts and all styles of stouts. I have even tolerated mediocre stouts. However, as the Tallgrass website states, after drinking it you’ll say “I’ve never-tasted-a-beer-like-that” . You are right this is one of the worst stouts ever tasted. It is a watered down version that hints at A-B or MillerCoors style of craft beer imitations. Did not detect the coffee, chocolate notes stated. Also, it does not appear to pour a deep, heavy brown like most stouts. theisti (1699), Leawood, Kansas, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 7, 2009 12 oz bottle given to me by beastiefan2k. Pour is black with garnet highlights and a noisy, firm two inch tan head. Head falls slow with nice lacing. Lacing remains throughout the entire beer. Aroma of spent coffee grounds, roasty tobacco and some mineral. Taste is the roast coffee, leafy tobacco and mineral of the nose, along with a soft lactose sweetness that works really nice as just a subtle accent to the roast stout flavor. There is also some nice drying pine hoppiness to the finish. Palate is medium to thin, along with high carbonation, which, joined with the dryness to the finish make this beer real easy to drink. Tallgrass makes some very quaff-able beers. Thanks for this one Eugene. KAggie97 (2485), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Dec 6, 2009 Bottle. Pours a deep, rich onyx with an aroma of ho-hum cocoa, roasted malt, and chocolate bits. Flavor is a bitter cocoa, roasted nut, sweet syrup, and a touch of smoke with vanilla and tobacco. Average mouthfeel. This beer is a typical attempt by a mediocre brewery to replicate a sweet stout. beastiefan2k (1608), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 29, 2009 Man, I love me some sweat of buffalo, such an appetizing name for a beer. The beer pours a very dark brown and a small tan head. With agitation of the glass the head rebuilds nicely. Aroma is strong on coffee with a definite sweat cream aspect. Comes off as an effervescent coffee brownie. Flavor is similar but a bit lighter and a bit more of a mineral and rocky feel to it. Its is very easy and a great mix of coffee, dry stout, and cream stout. 12oz bottle in an Ename goblet glass.
