This beer was known as Area 51 IPA during development. Ethos is our new West Coast style IPA...double dry-hopped using 6 different hop varietals. Juicy, citrusy, dank.

A balanced resinous character ads depth to an already complex combination of grapefruit peel and malt. The malt contributes just enough toast to make the grapefruit feel expression resemble a flamed zest. There is quite a bit of structure from bitterness and a good bit of nose. The volume of flavor is not as dialed up as some DIPA’s but it’s close. This is pretty impressive.

Draft at Hopleaf, Chicago. Pours clear orange with an off white head. Aroma of citrus, tropical fruits, orange peel and light caramel malt. Flavour is light moderate sweet and over moderate bitter, unfortunately very short lived. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

Can at CBC Islington, Steasy66 tasting. Thanks to Ryan for this one. It pours a cloudy orange body with a large white head. Aroma is hoppy and fruity with citrus and grass. Taste is citrusy, quite bitter, some earthy notes. Nice enough.

Can shared at Steasy66 tasting. Colour is clear pale orange with white head. Fairly standardish American IPA with fruity grapefruit and lemon citrous, little bit of boiled sweet, light pine.

Big pillowy eggshell head atop a gorgeous, clear orange pour. Huge nose....earth, citrus, grass. Not as much flavor coming through as the nose led me to believe. Pine and orange peel. Decent bitterness leads to a quick finish.

Tap at the Hopleaf, Chicago. Poured a clear light amber with a frothy white head, broken white lace and high carbonation. The aroma is grassy hop. The flavour is medium to weak bitter with a hoppy weak spice citrus palate. Nice and drinkable but lacks body and flavour for me.

Very citrus aroma mostly orange with some slight lemon and orange peel. Lovely orange gold color. Off white head with decent lacing. Taste is juicy orange citrus with great backend bitterness. The bitterness is like and a grapefruit rind. My favorite local iPa as of now.

Best by 12/27/2013. Pours a cloudy orange frothy head. Smells faintly like pine, citrus, grapefruit. Tastes like a lot of the same, some sweetness from the malt. Decent balance. Mouthfeel is fine. Overall an ok beer that tastes like it could be fresher. Doesn't live quite up to the hype I've heard, honestly. ---Rated via my tastebuds and my brain.

Can shared at CBC Islington during the Ryan Tasting - big thanks to Ryan himself for this beer. Solid IPA. Tasty, well balanced, with notes of citrus and light, dried pine. Quite drinkable.

Can at a tasting. From notes. Pine and citrus with loads of tropical fruits. Not to bad.
