COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer was known as Area 51 IPA during development. Ethos is our new West Coast style IPA...double dry-hopped using 6 different hop varietals. Juicy, citrusy, dank.

So. my first thought is that I’m going to compare Ethos IPA to my local legend Surly Furious. Both come in 16oz cans. Price point between the two is negligible. Both have pretty high IBUs while maintaining a reasonable ABV. Surly: 99/6.2% Ethos 110/6.7% That is about as far as the comparison goes. Ethos could be described as decent to good...Surly is world class. First and foremost Ethos is a hop bomb. There is no pretense of balance here. West Coast my ass, there are hopheads out there in the heartland. On the lighter side of the classic IPA amber color with a light, thin white head. The aroma stands tall with dank earthy, tropical fruit and apricot hop notes. Initial tasting provides lots of grapefruit, and citrus tang but falls apart fairly quickly. The carbonation is light. Surprisingly at 110 IBUs the bitterness is not as assertive as one would expect. The mouthfeel could best be described as thin and lacking depth. While tasty, this is very much one note and not nearly as refreshing as I had hoped. This did get better as it warmed a bit, a little more sweetness came through but this brew still lacked "completeness" In the crowded world of IPAs this falls into the pedestrian side of the equation.

Can. Clear amber pour, with a white head. Citrusy hops, bitter grapefruit, moderate caramel malt backbone, some pine, and fruitiness. Not bad.

From the 16 oz. can shared by jcwattsrugger. Pours amber/orange with a one finger off white head. Lots of citrus on the aroma with secondary biscuit. Flavor is a nice mix of bitter and sweet. Medium bodied with a bitter finish.

From the can shared with jcwattsrugger. Thanks John. A heady looking golden amber pour. The aroma is slightly sweet with an earthy, grassy hop feel. The body is smooth and around medium. The taste has a grainy but malty start which evolves into a full hop bitterness. Not a floral finish but a nice one.

I love this beer one of my favorite IPA’s. This beer has a nice grapefruit flavor and a powerful hop kick to it. I am a huge fan of this beer. I wish they had it up here in Wisconsin.

16oz can from Lukas Liquor. Drink by: 10/12/14. Shared with friends. Mostly hazy amber orange color. Thin off-white head. Loose bits of lace. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of soft, lighter carbonation. Kind of creamy. Good pine, light citrus, light resin hop character. Lightly spicy.. Better than expected already! Moderate bitter, moderate sweet taste. Light spicy rye type notes. Enjoyable, balanced, hoppy IPA to sip on.

16oz can 6/24/14 (Jewel-Osco)-43° in Shaker-Pours a light amber with a big loose off white head. Aroma of citrus and hops. Taste of the same with some malt coming in on the back end. This light to medium bodied brew is well balanced and quite tasty.

16oz can. Pours an orange color with a large, everlasting off white head. Aromas of sweet citrus fruit, floral hops. Taste is bitter and semi sweet, although the bitterness masks it pretty well. Flavors of creamy citrus fruit, flower petals, minimal malt presence. Finishes with a lingering hop bitterness. Some soap. Pretty good, but lack of tropical hop expression leaves it at the 2nd tier.
