This beer was known as Area 51 IPA during development. Ethos is our new West Coast style IPA...double dry-hopped using 6 different hop varietals. Juicy, citrusy, dank.

So. my first thought is that Iím going to compare Ethos IPA to my local legend Surly Furious. Both come in 16oz cans. Price point between the two is negligible. Both have pretty high IBUs while maintaining a reasonable ABV. Surly: 99/6.2% Ethos 110/6.7% That is about as far as the comparison goes. Ethos could be described as decent to good...Surly is world class. First and foremost Ethos is a hop bomb. There is no pretense of balance here. West Coast my ass, there are hopheads out there in the heartland. On the lighter side of the classic IPA amber color with a light, thin white head. The aroma stands tall with dank earthy, tropical fruit and apricot hop notes. Initial tasting provides lots of grapefruit, and citrus tang but falls apart fairly quickly. The carbonation is light. Surprisingly at 110 IBUs the bitterness is not as assertive as one would expect. The mouthfeel could best be described as thin and lacking depth. While tasty, this is very much one note and not nearly as refreshing as I had hoped. This did get better as it warmed a bit, a little more sweetness came through but this brew still lacked "completeness" In the crowded world of IPAs this falls into the pedestrian side of the equation.

Can at home, thanks Brad! Pours copper, white head, good retention. Aroma is citrus, floral, Grass, light pine. Faint caramel and toasted malts as well. Taste is pine initially, pine resin, grapefruit peel and citrus comes in later with a nice bitter and juicy finish. Impressive blend of hops, really compliment one another and has awesome bitterness. Light caramel sweetness. Medium body, high carbonation.

Can, shared by belgbeergeek. Pours dark yellow, a bit hazy, decent off-white head. Strong peach aromas, more spicy in the flavour and resinous in the end. Despite being quite rich in aroma and taste, not really my style of IPA.

Really tasty - overwhelming citrusy hops with a nice backbone to hold it all together. Good stuff.

Iím a bit confused about the reviews that say golden clear because mine poured a true cloudy apricot. Possibly the result of handcrafted beer. Anyway a truly fine craft although straight forward and lacking any deep complexity. Medium head and decent even lacing. Toast and some alcohol coming through at 6.8%abv. $9.99/multi sixer at Binnyís, Forest Park IL

Can at lake quivira beach. Pours clear golden with off white foamy head. Nose is pungent citrus and pine, some earthy malt notes as well. Same on the tongue with pretty good bitterness and drinkability. Balanced and surprised at the ibu ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Nice strong citrus and dank aroma. Pretty and clear appearance. Medium weight with complimenting carbonation. Big IPA flavor without being too harsh. Well received.

Plain Jane IPA but some fruit hints come out of the hops. Expected more punch for 110 IBU. Drinkable but not exceptional. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
