This beer was known as Area 51 IPA during development. Ethos is our new West Coast style IPA...double dry-hopped using 6 different hop varietals. Juicy, citrusy, dank.

So. my first thought is that I’m going to compare Ethos IPA to my local legend Surly Furious. Both come in 16oz cans. Price point between the two is negligible. Both have pretty high IBUs while maintaining a reasonable ABV. Surly: 99/6.2% Ethos 110/6.7% That is about as far as the comparison goes. Ethos could be described as decent to good...Surly is world class. First and foremost Ethos is a hop bomb. There is no pretense of balance here. West Coast my ass, there are hopheads out there in the heartland. On the lighter side of the classic IPA amber color with a light, thin white head. The aroma stands tall with dank earthy, tropical fruit and apricot hop notes. Initial tasting provides lots of grapefruit, and citrus tang but falls apart fairly quickly. The carbonation is light. Surprisingly at 110 IBUs the bitterness is not as assertive as one would expect. The mouthfeel could best be described as thin and lacking depth. While tasty, this is very much one note and not nearly as refreshing as I had hoped. This did get better as it warmed a bit, a little more sweetness came through but this brew still lacked "completeness" In the crowded world of IPAs this falls into the pedestrian side of the equation.

Can bought in the US by a colleague. (thansk Wolff) Clear light amber with a medium fluffy white head. Fresh aroma of resin, grapefruit, some pineapple and biscuits. Similar taste. On the sweet side and with a bitter finish.

A well executed IPA. Big citrus hops with a fairly extensive malt backbone. Little grassy. Enjoyable, was bought in a mixed pack of cans from this brewery, who make very solid beers.

Can. pale amber color. Grapefruit in the piney grassy aroma. Some malty, nutty notes next to the massive grassy citric hopbitterness. Grassy, earthy citric finish with peppermint. Firmly hopped, delicious IPA.

Poured from a 16oz can into an imperial pint glass -- Towering two to three finger width head that lingers. A translucent yellow/gold. The aroma is booze, pine, and grass, not as prominent as I was expecting. Flavor is malt sweetness then hop bitterness, pine, faint lemon. A really nice IPA that leaves a decent amount of lacing as you drink. I will enjoy drinking my four-pack.

16oz tall boy from jcwatts at the battleship tasting. Poured a clear honey amber body with a tight frothy off white head. Aroma of rotting oranges, lemons, fresh citrus, wet toast and honey sweetness. Flavor of dry citrus rinds, medium toast, yellow grapefruits. Medium/full body with average to stronger carbonation and a dry lingering aftertaste. Good stuff.

Can. Dry and bitter. Grapefruit aroma and dry hop and malt flavor, with a dry, grassy finish. Light copper color. Like drinking grapefruit juice.

Draft @ MCI Marriott. Nice hoppy aroma. Orange color with a little white head. Taste is more citrus, with a little pine in the aftertaste. Medium bodied, appropriate. Better than average IPA.
