Halcyon Unfiltered Wheat is an unapologetic American Wheat with the rich flavors of Kansas grain, a fruity aroma and a taste like the very best day of summer. Just like the Halcyon Days of yore, this seasonal brew won’t last forever, but no worries: Halcyon will return next year sure as summer.

Two fingers of head, great retention. Hazy, dark straw colored body with unfiltered sediment floating around. Smells like honey and Sparkling water taste with a nice dryness. Some lemon and sunshine. Refreshing and clean. Smooth and crisp texture. Moderate carbonation. Pretty good and unique flavor and great looking to boot.

Pint can - Hazy golden pour with a foamy white head. Nose is wheat, a bit of mineral, starchy grain. Yep, it smells like a wheat ale. Taste is the same. Wheat, corn, a hint of orange, and a grainy finish. Thick and fluffy with tons of carbonation. Gotta say that Wheat Ale is one of my least favorite styles, though this one must be pretty good for the style because I can at least drink the whole pint and it’s pleasant. But damn is this boring.

Given that it’s still goddamn cold here in Nebraska, it’s strange that I’ve had so many wheat ales, lately. Oh well, Halcyon hit the non-seasonal spot with its pronounced hoppiness and super hazy appearance. I enjoyed the fruity aroma and the candy-like sweetness. While I’d prefer a brew with more effervescence, creaminess, and flavor, I’d happily include Halcyon on my summer drinking list. It sure makes a damn decent lawnmower beer.

Can. A- Lemon, orange, grapefruit, citrus, wheat, subtle hops. A- Golden yellow color, unfiltered liquid, white head. T- Citrus, orange, grapefruit, subtle bitterness, wheat, subtle spice. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, soft finish. O- Been wanting this one for a while. Not sure the age on this can, either it was super fresh or about a year of age on it. I’m assuming the later because of how soft the aroma and taste was. This did play a bit of a factor in my ranking. I’m sure I also would’ve liked this more in my early craft drinking days. Still, this is a solid unfiltered wheat with a tad bit of tropical fruit bitterness that makes it stand apart.

Rather nice. Golden and very cloudy. Soapy head though it doesn’t foam up quite so violently as many wheats. The hops are right on the money, citrusy, at a level of intensity less than an IPA but still considerable.

Perfect summer beer in my opinion. Real beer with thick flavor, but light overall feel.

Light yellow golden awesome beer looking awesome beer. Citra and banana and spices which the wife and I both agree is awesome. Thank you for losing the text when an error occurs on the iPhone. I had two good reviews rejected. I’m not happy. Oh I have two swallows left to enjoy. Good beer.

UPDATED: AUG 31, 2014 Filtered straw gold; the yeast always settles in a keg of this and it is the luck of the draw. Banana, sugar, lactic-like cream of wheat. Sort of unpleasantly chemical at times, and surrounded in aluminum and other off mineral notes. Basic bland filtered wheat character. Lightly peppery flavor with a quick bursts of pungent dill now and then. Golden sweet malt flavor, with a lemon tang that is too soft to enliven the watery, lifeless body.
