COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
KÖLD
(ABV 5.0%, 16 IBU)

The fourth beer to add to our flavorful collection of brews, Köld is a crisp, easy-drinking lager with a traditional Pilsner malt aroma and subtle notes of honey and citrus. Köld is brewed using the finest German malts and hops, making it reminiscent of German-style lagers.

Köld originated as one of Jeff’s earlier brews where he and his buddies spent a few nights racing to the bottom of the keg. It has since been crafted into a brew that we are very proud to bring into our diverse, yet tasty family of beers. This is a beer that everyone can enjoy, and in copious quantities we might add (always responsibly of course)!

You can find Köld in bottles and on taps in more and more places! Ask for Köld at your favorite bar or retail outlet!

Old notes from old tasting, I do actually remember this being quite watery and bland.

A - Pours a cloudy straw yellow with a 3 finger that forms a nice cap and stays throughout the glass. S - Acidic apple/citrus, bright hay, doughy bread underneath, T - Fruity, white grapes and lemon koolaid powder, very faint lager yeast, doughy biscuit malt, light hops and some white pepper. M - Medium bodied, zippy carbonation helps with the wet finish. Too much lemon going. Finish was kinda weak. It’s a thirst quencher on a hot day. Serving type: can 05-04-2011

For an american lager, this isn’t bad. Slightly more fruity and hoppy than your average lager with a decent amount of alcohol and some citrus backing.

I got this in a beer trade from UncleMike. It came in bottle form and was poured into a pint glass. The beer was very golden in color with about three fingers of white head. You can tell it is very, very carbonated. The aroma has hints of lemon zest and honey. Once you take a sip however, there is little citrus and tons of sweetness from the honey. This beer is nothing amazing, but it does have great drink-ability. You could easily drink this all night long. It is light on the palette and on the stomach. This beer is nice, and I like it much more than alot of summer beers, but not really my cup of tea.

used a can of this at rbwg 3/5/11 to rinse the imperial stout taste out of my mouth... then kept drinkin’ it. yellow with a bright white head. floral nose... mixed with pils grain, grass, mineral water and lemon. the flavor is a touch on the sweet side. not so bad! 6/3/5/3/13

16 oz can from Lukas OP. Pours a hazy pale straw with a loose white head. The nose is a lemon and hay blend with a soft pils malt backing: bright and clean. Light-bodied without being thin, the palate is clean and refreshing with a mildly lingering, light, malty finish. The flavor is of bright pilsner malt with a lemon-grass supporting note transitioning to a mildly lemon-flavored mineral water aftertaste. Simple, refreshing and pretty tasty. It’s a shame that they’ve discontinued this beer just as I’ve discovered it. If they canned this at $7/sixer like their Halcyon Wheat, I could see myself buying it regularly during the summer months. (On a side note, I’m not sure this is categorized properly, as a premium lager, but given that it’s now retired, I don’t suppose that matters too much.)

can-suprised to see this retired since i bought it early this year (february in St Louis). lightly hazy yellow with a small fizzy white with alot of cascading carbonation in the pilsner glass. nose of grainy, lightly metallic and spritzy (seltzer water comes to mind). soft grainy flavors dominate with a faint touch of grassy hops. a very good lite beer on a hot midwesten day for sure! short finish of wet grains. could be the best premium lager i have ever had and sucks that its retired!

Sample from a can at Old Mill Stream in St. Charles, MO. The beer is a clear golden color with a medium white head that fizzes away steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Grainy malt and light hops in the nose. Light body with flavors of biscuity malt, mild hops and a bit of spice. The finish is clean and leaves a light grassy hops aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

Pint Can. Poured a hazy yellow color with a small white head. Aroma was malts, citrus and grass. Flavor was a little funky. Bread and malts up front with a sweeter citrus aftertaste. Watery, but still very refreshing.
