Oasis is a Double ESB/IPAish beer that came about from playing around with one of Jeffs favorite homebrew recipes. Here at Tallgrass we love malt and we love hops, and this beer has both of them in record quantities; well, at least records for our baby brewery. At a hefty 7.2% ABV and 93 IBU, Oasis is a big beer that has to be priced a bit higher than our regular line of beers. We think that once you taste the over-the-top hops and surprisingly sturdy malt backbone you will realize why its worth it. Definitely not a fruit-extract seasonal shandy, this beer is meant to be enjoyed on the back porch, the front porch, or even on the stoop. Whats a stoop? Well, its a good place to drink beer, is what it is.

Poured into a pint glass. Hazy copper color, two fingers of tight head, lots of lacing. Big citrus smell. Grapefruit and a sharp lemon are the biggest ones. Aggressive hops from the beginning. Tough to taste anything else, but in the middle there is a little honey flavor... probably the only malt bit that came through. Lasting bitterness. Lots of bubbles and medium body. Solid Double IPA. Hits early and big; perfect fit and fun to drink.

Canned (backlog). Slightly hazy deep amber colour with a mediumsized creamy, slightly off-white head. Aroma is sugary, citrusy, sweet malty and some mild syrupy notes. Flavour is sweet malts, syrup, caramel, citrus, sweet floral notes as well as some grassy notes. Balanced and pleasant.

Transparent, amber resin pour; steadfast foam. Iced tea, caramel malt, honey biscuit, orange candy aroma. Needles and grapefruit seem subdued within the washy malt notes, but the balance of all these highly ordinary components is generally quite careful. Its interesting, because it seems that this would be highly unpleasant if one or more of these elements was turned up or down even slightly.

This peculiarity is also apparent in what is mostly an outdated flavor. Here, the resin and floral qualities are more centered, while the malt sweetness is more subtle. There is a wealth of predictable familiarity, in aerosol-like bitterness, iced tea astringency, and citrus oil and pith. But the skilled, even handedness of this brewery is the most prevalent sensation.

The palate offers soft carbonation and some good weight without ever being sticky or syrupy. The finish is clean with lingering, dry resin. The present is full of forward thinking, detailed and delicate hop presentations in this style; this example seems to state that given this, there is still a place for this type of brash, overdone persona.

Bottle; dark amber color with a big frothy head. Aroma of must, orange, earth, spice and caramel. Good flavor; aggressively earthy, mostly dry. Ok breadiness.

Pours a deep amber color with off-white head. Pine, citrus, and some floral notes on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a pleasing bitterness on the palate.

From can. Pours dark red with a fair bit of tan head. Fresh, hoppy aroma with some malt. Taste is similar, perfectly balanced with a nice kick toward the finish. Best Ive had from Tallgrass thus far.

Very well balanced beer. A healthy amount of hops, alochol, and sweet malty base. One of the go to tallgrass beers.

Dark orange-amber color with some white head. Aroma of citrus and bitter malts. Flavor is more bitter malt and citrus rind. Best ESB I can recall... that being said, I still have no reason to drink it again. Maybe the dry hopping is what makes it a bit better to me...?
