Cranberry and malty aroma. Tastes like a lighter ESB. Surprised at the brown ale categorization here at RB. Not surprised Tallgrass used some English malts and hops here as this is the most English tasting ale I’ve had from America. Nice, decent flavor, easy to drink.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap. Served a dark brown color with a decent head that faded quickly to some lacing. Aroma of malt, bit of chocolate and nut. Taste is simiar with malt, bit of chocolate and nut. Mild bitterness and a clean finish. Moderate body, smooth and the character is a bit muted. Nice beer that has an English feel to it.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
can @ John’s Grocery / Iowa City IA --- Clear brown with a firm 1" head and swirls of lace. Taste is bigger than I expected - malt that is joined right away by toffee and unsalted peanuts and pencil sharpenings. It moves smoothly to a mild hop finish. It certainly delivers a lot for 4.4%, but it doesn’t satisfy enough to be a "pub ale."

16oz can from Lukas Liquors in Missouri, purchased during RBSG. Can is best by 9/04/14. Half hazy dark red / brown color. Thin off-white cream colored head, leaves good thicker lace. Medium body. Smooth, lightly soft, moderate carbonation. Light dry finish. Nutty, chocolate, light caramel flavor, and a hint of a metallic edge. Moderate bitter, light sweet taste, a little bit rough. An OK pub ale, not nearly as smooth as my favorite examples of the style.

Tall boy can from John Watts. Poured a clear deep honey brown with a smaller foamy light beige head. Aroma of bread, nuts, crust, dough, wet peanuts and citrus. Medium body, dry, lingering taste. Flavor of nut shells, bread, crusts, dry citrus rind, earth and tree bark.

Meh. From a can. Pour is lovely cola brown w/beige head. Head is very frothy and leaves sticky lacing on the glass. Aroma is of watered down fruits. Watery malt and fruit dominate the palate. No hops to speak of. Overall rather mediocre.
