3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/2016 oz can into a pub glass. Big head on this one, dark brown pour, but a little light shows in the bottom of the glass. I could smell the vanilla before I even picked it up. Aroma is vanilla, roasted malt, coffee, and some tobacco. Head isn’t really foamy, more fizzy, and dissipates fairly quickly. Body is pretty light, less carbonated than I would have guessed from the head, really smooth, little sweetness. Muted coffee and dark chocolate. Vanilla isn’t overpowering at all, really, and the coffee/vanilla thing is fairly balanced. Maybe I got a bad can, but my first impression was that it tasted kinda flat and very light bodied. I was excited to try this, but I’m kinda disappointed. That being said, it’s only 5% abv, and its pretty drinkable so it might be a fun session beer.

Deep brown with a medium bubbly tan head. Malt powder, light vanilla, light coffee, slight earthiness. Flavor is lightly sweet. Body is watery and thin, which washes down quickly without supporting potential flavors.

Can courtesy of RobertDale. Pours a hazy stout brown with an off-tan head. Nose is big vanilla bean, chocolate, some light cocoa, earth, and roast. Flavor follows with cocoa, earth, and big vanilla. Excellent stout overall- light in body, alcohol level is under control and chocolate and vanilla flavors dominate. What’s not to like?

Pounder->English pint. Deep brown with tall light brown head. Aroma is nutty with roasted malt. Taste has chocolate, roasted malt, vanilla. Thin but good.

Can shared at a local tasting, tasted blind, pours black with a really thin tan head, the aroma has a little bit of chocolate and some sweet vanilla, not as much as I would have expected, the flavor has some chocolate on the front end with a slick mouthfeel, flavor was lacking compared to what I was expecting, not bad by any means, just didn’t blow me away.

Can. Dry roasted coffee aroma. Hint of hops. Not getting the vanilla. Opaque black body. Thin tan head. Really lightly carbonated; almost flat. Nice vanilla finish. Needs more carbonation.

Sampled at DLD 2013. It poured a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma was of coffee and nuts with faint vanilla hints. The taste was of coffee, chocolate and slight vanilla flavors. Very good.

An improvement to an already good beer. The vanilla edition tastes like it should in the first place imo. The added vanilla really brings out the sugar note that make cream stouts so enjoyable. Still not quite at 5 star status, but if you run across a 4-pack of these it’s well worth the buy.
