COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is a Belgian Tripel that lives up to its name. Smooth and carefully crafted like a fine velvet painting, but with an 8.5% ABV this bird has some spurs! The beer pours a golden straw color with brilliant clarity. Topped with a lofty pure white head the beer has a wonderful floral nose, with subtle fruit notes. The taste is clean and crisp, with subtle fruit notes and a touch of candy like sweetness. The beer has a Champagne-like effervescent that provides a crisp offset to its sweet finish. While a pint glass is always nice, Velvet Rooster would also be at home in a tulip glass or Champagne flute. Something to crow about.

Can. Hazy golden yellow color, thick white head, solid lacing. Arona of tropical fruit and pineapple (or is that redundant?). Taste is bitter pineapple and citrus. Not bad.

I love the label on this one. 16 ounce can from Beer Run. Pours a hazy straw color with a large frothy off-white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of nutty notes and spice with a bit of a sugar note. The taste is sweet malts, candi sugar, strong cinnamon, nutmeg and other spice, caramel. Medium-full bodied. On the sweet side, and maybe a bit too strongly spiced, but still a nice beer.

Sample at Bridge Tap House & Wine Bar. Bright golden pour with a medium thick white head that diminishes gradually. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of fruit, yeast and malt. Medium-bodied with flavors of earthy yeast, ripe fruit and mild floral hops. The finish is bready malt and yeast. Decent overall.

Very interesting beer. It tasted nothing like a typical tripel but it was engaging and alright.

Pint-size can. Poured clear straw golden with a dense, uniform white head. The aroma picked up a thick paste of spices (cloves, grains of paradise, and coriander) over soft fruit and pale malts.. some vanilla down there too.. too sweet and too aggressive with the spicage for my liking. The flavor found honey, bread, and vanilla sweetness at the core.. lots of cloves and floral bitterness around.. very spicy on the long finish. Medium-bodied with high carbonation on the palate.. again heavy on the spices and bitterness.. this wasn’t bad, but I like a lot more subtlety in my tripels.

On tap at Sugar Maple. Pours a clear orangish gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of sweet grains with underlying light sweet fruit and caramel. Flavor is similar with sweetness from sweet bread, cookie and sweet grains with a bit of backing light fruit.
