Delicious porter with an intense smokey chocolate aroma. Beautiful dark pour. Almost as satisfying as a great stout.

Can at Souris River. Drank from the can, so I didnít see the appearance, and the aroma was limited, but fairly roasty. Taste has fruity plums, prunes, coffee. Nice.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pour on tap, dark brownish black pour with tan head, aroma brought notes of nice brownie, dark chocolate, milk chocolate into some roast, coffee bean into a bit of yeasty notes, slight earthy hops. Taste was a mix of cocoa, chocolate, some dark fruit into roast, coffee, some caramel, finishing fairly roasted, slightly sweet.

Rich black pour with a frothy brown head. Aroma is roasted malt. Taste is roasted malt, chocolate, a little char, sweetness of hops, nice roasted malt finish. Little dry, very tasty. Cool can with a nifty tactical grip. Great lacing. Recently received one as an extra in a trade(Thanks Bob), but it available locally. I mention this only because it is/was a great bonus none-the-less.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
16 oz. can, consumed on 2-17-15. Not unpleasant aroma features scents of chocolate-covered raisin, caramel, and Wertherís Original candies. Too dessert-like in smell for my sensibilities. Pours dark brown with a moderate amount of taupe head. Produces good lacing. Tastes like coffee with caramel. Charred finish. Fine but utterly ordinary taste. Roasted dry aftertaste. Medium body. Soft in the palate. Unremarkable palate effects. Overall, decent enough but underwhelming.

This is my all time favorite beer!! This complex porter has incredible flavor and is very drinkable! If you are ever in the Little Apple stop by the brewery for a good 'ol craft brewer tour. Great time!!

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pint can, poured into a shaker pint at approximately 45 degrees F.
Appearance: Pours a viscous dark black, and with a somewhat careless pour, forms roughly a meter of foamy tan head with some fairly ridiculous retention. iPhone flashlight reveals a speck or two of ruby highlight through the beer. Lacing clings well to the glass.
Smell: A deep roasted malt bill wafts forth, chocolate drizzled onto fresh-baked dark bread. There are some faint tones of something vaguely fruity in the background.
Taste: Warm, dark bread fills the mouth, from grain-sprinkled crust through chewy, yeasty center to lightly charred bottom. There are spots here and there of crumbled toffee, and a nuttiness very like Brazil nuts. The finish leaves an odd, slightly floral bitterness behind, which is the only indication I taste of any hop presence, mingled with lingering remnants of the bready flavors.
Mouthfeel: This beer drinks full and creamy, evoking words like "rich" - as I tend to split stouts and porters more by feel than other characteristics, Iíd say this one leans more towards the stout side of the spectrum. There is no watery finish like many porters have, and the beer seems to resist being folded or swirled with the tongue.
Overall: Given that I have a likely impending move to Iowa happening, I had been concerned about getting my hands on Edmund Fitzgerald regularly enough to satisfy my good porter cravings. Since beers like this appear to be available, I should be able to fill in the gaps between visits to GLBC distribution territory in adequate fashion.
