Tasted on 2/8/14 from a 750mL bottle at the RBWG Grand Tasting, big thanks to Ferris for this gem. Pours cloudy yellow with a thick white head that slowly recedes to thin lace. The nose is dry, spicy yeast with a unique funky basement aroma that I associate more with wine. The flavor is the same spicy yeast, funky basement, with the addition of some fruity esters. The body is medium with very lively carbonation and a long funky spicy saison finish.

On tap at CBB’s 2nd anniversary event. 650 yen for a glass. Really nice classic saison nose, funk & spice. Really nice soft body. Lovely flavor, earthy spicy saison, some cloves. Really refreshing.

Bottle shared by Ferris at the RBWG 2014 grand tasting, thanks! Pours a cloudy light gold with a white head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has lots of flora and grass with a sweet grain backing. Flavor has a very floral note with sweet grains and a hint of grass bite.

750 ml bottle sample at RBWG. Pours a hazy yellow color with a small white head. The aroma and flavor have herbal hops, citrus, lemongrass, a definite character from the sake yeast, soft, light spice. A nice way to start a few hours of drinking.

Bottle - Sweet yeast grass, citrus and a bit of cheese funk. Cloudy yellow with a foamy white head. Caramel, candied sugar, grass and orange/lemon citrus. Effervescent and light bubbly creamy mouthfeel. Light funk that I think will get better with some age.

Bottle, 07/01/2013. Pours pale golden straw color, frothy white head settles to the surface, soapy lacing. Aroma is light toasted grains, earthy spices, light banana and sweet pear, yeast and soft herbal hops. Taste mostly similar: grains with light fruity notes, yeast and round spicy bitterness lingering on the tongue. Medium body, crisp carbonation. I prefer the barrel-aged version for sure, but this is still decent and I wouldn’t turn down another.
