Bottle, 07/01/2013. Pours pale golden straw color, frothy white head settles to the surface, soapy lacing. Aroma is light toasted grains, earthy spices, light banana and sweet pear, yeast and soft herbal hops. Taste mostly similar: grains with light fruity notes, yeast and round spicy bitterness lingering on the tongue. Medium body, crisp carbonation. I prefer the barrel-aged version for sure, but this is still decent and I wouldn’t turn down another.

(750ml bottle) Pours a hazy yellow body with a medium egg-white head. Aroma of florals, earthiness, rice, yeast, and citrus. Flavor of grapefruit, yeast, banana, pear, and florals with a dry finish.

Wombata (467) - Kobe, JAPAN - APR 29, 2013
Aroma: very floral, ripe lemon, light banana ester, yeast, note of fresh, uncooked green peas. Flavor: floral, grainy malt, lemon, banana. At the end of the mid-palate, the bitterness kicks in and hangs on. Comment: very aromatic with a soft, gentle mouthfeel. Great stuff.

MartinT (8024) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - APR 25, 2013
My Bottom Line:
This citrusy, dry Saison’s pleasant aromatics hang on till the very end over mild straw-like cereals and brettanomyces allusions.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the pale straw blond.
-The herbal hop bitterness creates a great finish.
-The high level of dryness makes this one stand out to me.
-This is a wonderful base Saison with which Eigo-san can play for years. The Barrel-Aged version is becoming mindblowing already...

Bottle.

Bottle thanks to KyotoLefty. Pours with a hazed yellow hued body and a lasting white head. Aromas are earthy, wooden, floral, peppery, phenolic and dry. Flavors are hoppy, spicy, floral, light pear and ginger. Bone dry. Grassy. Very nice carbonation. Great saison!

Soft slightly phenolic, spicy nose. Some sake qualities. Big bodied, smooth, though with high carbonation. Some bread, hay, rice, mineral, apple and a slightly sweet dry finish. Good Saison, though it falls well short of a classic Belgian.

Bomber. Heavy yeast, lemon, and some barnyard aromas. Bright yellow, huge thick head. Dry initial, leading to some honeyish notes; mid plate has good fruit (peaches); final brings a solid bitterness. Very crisp and dry. Good saison, lightened up with rice.

A rich and lightly cloudy gold color with a white head. Aroma is herbal, vegetal, a bit of plastic notes. Flavor is dry, some light pepper notes, vegetal and odd in the finish.
