Tampa Bay Bavarian Pilsner

Visiting Florida for the week and found this on draught. Appearance is hazy gold with minimal head. Floral hops and sweet malts come through in the aroma, and then much stronger in the flavor, along with some graininess. Very nicely balanced and quite enjoyable.

Tap. Pours a clear golden with a small white head that fades to a ring and leaves some lacing. Aroma of pilsner malt and spicy floral Saaz hops. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium mouthfeel that finishes clean and crisp with a moderate amount of bitterness. Simple but very good..

On tap @ brewery. Pours a watery looking clear gold with decent enough bright white head. The aroma is very light with vague sweetness and a faint floral hop note. The taste starts sweet and malty from lightly roasted malts. Then the floral hops grow in strength and mix with the sweetness. This mixture seems to create an almost soapy flavor. The hops gradually become more and more bitter toward the finish. I still sense a slight soapiness into the after taste. It may just be the malt and hop combination creating this flavor on my palate. As more and more ounces are consumed a nice malty flavor starts to shine through and tipping the balance of sweet malts and hops away from that bit of soapiness I sensed.

Hazy gold with a small white head. Flavor is not overpowering, but nicely balanced between the grassy Saaz hops and a sweet, fruity maltiness. Very refreshing on a hot September afternoon. My glass disappeared quickly!

Draught. Golden body, small off white head that fades quickly, no lacing. Aroma is very muted, can get some malts, hops and grains and that’s about it. Flavor is better, citrus, malts and cereal grains. Light to medium bodied, nice carbonation. Finish is somewhat bland, bitter and medium length.
