markwise (257), Orlando, Florida, USA Jun 2, 2008 This beer kind of reminded me of Terrapin Red Hoppy Monster. It has nice hop flavor with a bit of thickness to the mouthfeel. Malt and hops abound with a smooth, yet dry finish. One of the best at TBBC.
Ibrew2or3 (1648), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Aug 12, 2008 Had this back in mid June and it seems very much like an alias for Two Red Eyes.
Poured up in a goblet glass with deep amber body and thin dark tan head. The aroma is caramel mixing with malt along with mild pine hops and faint floral and spice hoppiness. The taste is full and rich malts to start creating a lip smackin’ chewy maltiness couple with cherry, apricot and plum fruity esters. I also get a note of caramel that shows up about midway and joined by a growing level of pine hop bitterness. As the finish approaches most of the caramel and maltiness drops off leaving a pine hop and floral to spice hop bitterness behind. There is a roasty component that hangs on into the after taste. A hint of oxidation also showed up from time to time too. Tasty chewy brew. DragonStout (1143), Orlando, Florida, USA Jul 16, 2008 Shared a sampler at the brewery with BeerVirgin. Poured a dark, almost brick red. The nose and hop presence was there more than the original. The flavor was sweeter with some caramel and hops.Finished off slightly dry. BeerVirgin72 (568), C-Bus, Ohio, USA Jun 16, 2008 On tap at brewery. A bit darker then the original. I think I preferred this one. Very sweet and malty up front, but true to style, finished very hoppy. Alcohol was definitely present in this. 1FastSTi (2388), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA Jun 10, 2008 Tap at the brewery. Significantly darker than the standard Redeye. The lacing is better and the head color is off-white. More hops show up in the aroma. Maltier and more robust too. This beer is what the stock version should be. Nice bitterness and medium body. A totally different experience!
