A very nice florida version of the english porter, not overly hopped like some west coast versions.

Smells like a bitter coffee or a burnt candy, very thick. Tastes the same but with a bit of molasses sweetness and finishes with more molasses. nice head, great color. solid porter.

Draft at Tampa Bay Brewing. A large sized light brown head that was creamy and smooth with fine sized bubbles that were mostly lasting. The body was uncarbonated and opaque with a dark brown hue. The nose was that of chocolate and coffee with a coffee flavor. The palate was creamy and smooth and this was a Porter that was light bodied for its style. The lacing was excellent.

TheDM and Hotstuff vacation brew 80. This draft brew was sampled at the brewery in Tampa Florida and was served to us by Jim McCann the brewer and Vicky Owen the owner. This brew poured a large sized head of foamy finely sized light brown colored long lasting bubbles that left behind an opaque dark brown colored body with no visible carbonations and a fair lace. The aroma was that of a medium strength malt and the mouthfeel was tingly and smooth at the start then diminished in the mild hop finish. It had a mild brown beer flavor and was somewhat unporter like.

A good porter. Deep and dark, slightly red. Smells of loads of coffee. In the taste, very roastiness, but the coffee is blessedly restrained, good chocolate character instead. Excellent hops at end, nice dry finish. Good stuff.

UPDATED: MAY 8, 2004 Re-Rate Cask conditioned, exceptionally creamy, very lactic and chocolaty, nice suggestion of coffee and oak…. Very nice!

A terrific porter, creamy mouth feel to boot…. Jack had a very nice balance of full and well-roasted chocolate malts, with a bitter hopy finish. The body is rich, deep, and dark with a creamy caramel colored tan head….. Over all splendid local porter, it’s too bad its not bottled.

Dark ruby brown body with a small tan head. Slight roasted malt aroma, not enough IMO. Flavor is roasted malt with bitterness provided more by the malt then the hops. Hops are very subdued. Medium light body. It seems that most of TBBC beer's have bodies that are too light, this one is no exception to the rule.

Maybe it's just because I hadn't had a beer in a while, but the glass of Jack the Quaffer that I had was one of the best I've had in a loooong time. The appearance and aroma pretty good, but once you have a sip...that's when you realize that the palate and flavor are amazing! Very carbonated, not bitter at all, very smooth and enjoyable.

Wow, this was brutally good. Some tanginess, but on the whole very well balanced. Good carbo fizz, medium body. Lots of roast, dry, good hopping.

UPDATED: NOV 27, 2004 (11/26/04) Aroma is moderately sweet, roasty, chocolate, coffee. Taste is medium sweet, roasty, coffee, some chocolate, light grapefruit. Watery light-medium body. (6/3/6/3/12) (7/7/03) Black with small creamy tan head. Aroma is medium sweet roasty coffee. Taste is too sweet, roasty, coffee, finishing coffee bitter. Medium body -- lighter than other "London Porters" I’ve tried. (6/4/4/2/9)
