3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Dickinsonbeer (5075) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - MAR 17, 2009
UPDATED: APR 18, 2010 Sample at brewpub. Pours a deep dark brown almost black with a nice head. Aroma is nutty, light roast burnt toast- nutty and chocolate with light phenols. Good flavor of dark chocolate, nuts, almond, big sweet toasted malts, light caramel, modest fruity esters and a slight phenolic thing going on as it warms. Pretty good.

The aroma is right to style with toasted malt, coffee, and a hint of chocolate. The appearance is dark brown with an average head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is right for the style. Overall a nice porter.

Dark brown. The aroma is light coffee, accented by chocolate malt. Coffeeish, chocolatey palate with an interesting orangey note towards the dry, breadcrusty finish.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Sammy (7034) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 19, 2009
Enjoyed on-tap at the brewpub. Jet black with whitish topping, lots of lace. Above average carbonation. Very well roasted, so how you like the roastiness is how you like the porter.

On tap at the brewpub in Tampa Bay. Poured a dark brown color with a one finger tan head. The aroma was chocolate and roasted malt. The flavor was very roasty. The palate was average, with a body that was a bit thin, but the mouthfeel was still very smooth. this was an enjoyable brew.

Sample @ brewpub. Opaque black-brown with small tan head. Rich chocolate aroma is roasty and toasty. Quaffable. Lots of solid, pure roasted chocolate malt. Not burnt but very roasty-toasty. Silky-smooth with great character.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 GodOfThunder (1235) - Orlando, Florida, USA - JAN 6, 2009
On draft at the brewpub with Beerlando. Aroma is caramel malts with a slight smokiness. Flavor is full flavored with dark roasted coffee and malt. Slight hoppy bitterness in the finish. Fairly light mouthfeel.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Beerlando (3342) - Orlando, Florida, USA - JAN 4, 2009
Draft at the brewpub. Dark mahogany in color, the body shines translucent with chestnut colored highlights when held to the light. A small, foamy, khaki colored head leaves minimal, spotty lacing behind. Aromas include dry roasted barley, dry cocoa, burnt caramel, and hints of coffee and dark fruit. Flavors follow suit, very roasty overall, with a strong barley and scorched caramel contingent. Earthy hop notes lend further bitterness to the roast. There is minimal chocolate or caramel sweetness. The body is on the light side for the style, well balanced, but lacking in that satisfying substance that I seek in a porter. Decent, semi-dry, roasty session porter here.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 WickerBrew (311) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 20, 2008
Eh it looked pretty good. Too bad the bartender either didnt know what he was doing or the tap was way too pressured. Taste just didnt live up to what it looked like. Just bland. A good effort since its a pretty big style, but not much besides bland dark roastedness.

Tap at TBBC.
Pours dark brown with beige head.
Aroma, floral hops, caramel malts, some chocolate.
Taste is hoppy, floral notes, lightly bitter chocolate finish with a nice caramel / malty notes on the palate.
Little coffee in teh afetrtaste.
For some reasons this one was a freshly new batch, and the beer seemed to be much lighter than other versions.
It remains an outstanding porter, highly drinkable.
