Draft at brewpub. Poured a copper color with a medium white head that was lasting and produced good lacing. Good balanced malt and hopd aroma. Medium body. Heavy hoppy flavor with a more balnced sweet finish.

Tampa Bay Brewing in Coral Springs. Draft in a snifter. Pours a dark amber with thick head. Heavy booze aroma with some spices, roasted malts and floral. Taste is not as impressive as the aroma. Heavy booze, too light in the malts, and dry finish which is weird for a barleywine.

Tap at the brewpub. Clear orange-amber pour with a spotty head. Caramel and butterscotch - palate is moderate. Good beer but not a great barley wine.

Raft at the source. Clear amber color, thick cream colored head, solid lacing. Aroma of caramel. Taste is pure butterscotch, slightly toasted.

Draught at bar. Amber color, white head. Malty taste with alcohol, fruits and dry finish. Nice hint of a ripe apple in the middle. Special barley wine.

Growler, overnighted. 3 days old when I had this. The beer pours a dark amber with slight head. Aroma is urine on baby diapers that have been sitting in the sun for a few days. Very off putting. The taste is banana and fruit stripe gum with loads of heat. There is definitely some hop presence to this but it’s just very overwhelming with the alcohol. Overall, the smell just was too much and the odd mash of flavors in the beer didn’t really help things out.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours clear golden with small whitehead. Little lacing, light body, low carbonation, and sweet aroma. Taste is sweet floral grain and some alcohol. 100 IBU, is this a misprint? Surprisingly good for a barley wine (rating toward the end of my evening).

Looks great and feels great when drinking, but lacks a great aroma and taste. Plus, served in a warm glass. Definitely not the best barley wine I’ve ever had. .

Dark amber in color, clear with a very light head. Big thick malt and dried fruit aroma. Light hops and big malt roast and fruit flavors. Dry finish and a strong alcohol finish.
