Here at Tap It Brewing we take a unique approach toward crafting an India Pale Ale and challenge the current status quo. The goal? To craft an India Pale Ale hoppy in flavor and aroma that goes down smooth. We utilize the avant-garde method of First Wort Hopping, the technique of adding hops to the kettle before boil. This creates a harmonious explosion of hop aroma and flavor noticeable throughout the tasting experience. Fragrances of tangerine and grapefruit entice the nose. A thick hazy rich head leads drinkers toward an experience rich in citrus and earthy flavors ending with a smooth, sticky finish. The complex floral and citrusy tones from Citra and Simcoe hops welcome you, while two more hop varietals mate smoothly with four malt varieties for an unmatched aroma. Altogether, a crisp pleasurable full bodied taste. A word of caution: Drinking Tap It IPA around friends may cause envy.

Bottle, from day 9 of the Beer Advent Calendar 2013. Bright orange amber with a thick pillowy light golden head. Terrific bouquet of Pacific Northwest hoppy goodness, very vibrant. Juicy citrus hop flavours open the palate, some perfumey pine, but mostly tangerine and grapefruit. The malts are equally lovely, a little doughy, a little toasty. It all finishes with a lengthy bitterness. What a terrific surprise!

355 ml bottle. BBE 30.09.2014.
Pours clear dark golden-copper color with a large white head. Very resinous and piney aroma, some sweet tropical fruits lots of oily hops. Sweet orange and resinous hops on the flavor, mild caramel, sweetish pale malts and some mild gooseberry notes as well. Smooth oily palate with a bitter malty finish. A very nice and balanced IPA leaning towards the malty side, feels very fresh even though it’s very close to BBE date, but I bet It’d be even better fresh. Good.

Bottle shared at Beer Temple. Pours clear dark golden with an off white head. Aroma of doughy malts upfront, very light fruits and a light vanilla touch. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. This bottle as at its drink by date which probably explains the lack of aroma hops.

6 pack with no freshness date, but it is a new arrival to the area. Lets see if it lives up to the GABF Gold. Pours with a clear golden orange hue, with a just barely off white head. Very good retention and lace. Aromas are strongly fresh and hoppy with papaya, tropical fruit, melon, tangerine and fresh cut grass. Low malt, a bit of a harsh ester/alcohol combination. A bit doughy. Mostly hops. Flavors are dough, bready and grainy. Some alcohol, low bitterness, light DMS. Flavors are not nearly as hoppy as the aroma. Tropical fruit, grassy, tangerine. Melon. Moderate carbonation. Malty balance. Good, fresh, decent, but "fresh" for "fresh" I’d take the cross town rival, Union Jack.

22oz bomber pours clear copper with light tan head and leaving behind some spotty lacing. The aroma sends up some pine hops and malt sweetened tangelo and sweet to tart smelling grapefruit. The taste has some nice citrus like hoppy bitterness and some pine. These notes slide into sweet maltiness and a bit of oddly placed sweet caramel malts. The malts seem a bit forward and the hops seem they could use more late addition to the boil flavor. This is an OK IPA but not a great one.

355 ml bottle. Pours a copper amber cololur with a frothy white head. Aroma of floral hops, some herbs and grass. Flavour of bready malts, floral bitterness, sweetness, herbs and quite rich grapefruit notes. Medium bodied. Dry, lingering bitter, slightly sweet finish. Good, but not as fresh as I hoped for.
