COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This devilish weizenbock is stronger than it appears and is the third installment in our Hansel and Gretel beer series. This is one is a wicked ale with notes of banana and dates. This beer is so strong you should consider leaving a trail of bread crumbs in case you forget your way home.

UPDATED: JUN 1, 2015 Tap: Muddled, swampy brown body with a khaki layer of foam that rests more as a thin film atop the brew. Aroma includes slight cocoa dust, banana esters, soft wheat, bubblegum, & a little hint of dark fruitiness in the back end. The flavor is filled with wheat, hefe yeast, bubblegum, mild cocoa, banana taffy, some earthy & dirty esters, a bit of perfume, mild prune, & a touch of medicinal notes in the finish. Aside from the somewhat strange medicinal finish, it’s a very nice weizen bock, kind of like a chocolate-y hefe. Update: Had this recently out of the bottle. Not at all what I remember. Heavily vinous. Lots of musty grape skins, oak, & cotton. Grape juice flavor without the warmth of wine. Raisin, wood, tannins, strange medicinal finish. Not so great.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 2/11/2015. Pours fairly crystal clear dark reddish brown color with a 1-2 finger dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big raisin, plum, fig, date, banana, clove, caramel, molasses, toffee, red wine, toasted oak, leather, light chocolate, light vanilla, and yeast/oaky earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, fruity/spicy yeast, and wine barrel notes; with good strength. Taste of big raisin, plum, fig, date, banana, clove, caramel, molasses, toffee, red wine, toasted oak, leather, light chocolate, light vanilla, and yeast/oaky earthiness. Fair amount of yeast spiciness and light tannic oak tartness/bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of raisin, plum, fig, date, banana, clove, caramel, molasses, toffee, red wine, toasted oak, leather, light chocolate, and yeast/oaky earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity and robustness of dark/bready malt, fruity/spicy yeast, and wine barrel flavors; with an awesome malt/yeast/barrel balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a smooth, moderately creamy, and lightly slick/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a small warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is an awesome barrel aged weizenbock. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, fruity/spicy yeast, and wine barrel flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

Bottle. Dark brown pour with a slight reddish tint. Very little head. Aromas are plums, figs, bananas, chocolate and grape juice. Taste sugary sweet. Big grape juice and banana, some dark fruit and finish with lingering chocolate syrup. Very little carb. Medium body. Decent but needs some tweaks.

From taster at brewery. Dark brown with off white head, some light coming through. Lots of raisins, prunes, red wine. Oily, sweet, some pepper. Very good.

Tap: very deep brown and okay head. Nice dark fruit and banana along with Clove like spice. Dark smooth wheat husk and some caramel notes. Biting alcohol and chalky finish, could stand a tad more body. Overall solid brew and to style.

On tap at Tapistry Brewing. Muddy brown with a thin tan crown. Aroma is rather sweet with toffee, fruit, mild noble hops and a bit of alcohol. Taste is sweet as well with plenty of toffee along with spices, dark fruit, faint noble hops and a sweet and sticky finish
