2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: NOV 10, 2013 Tap: mahogany & brown with an expected opaqueness, topped with a thin layer of bubbly, khaki head that skimps to a collar pretty quickly. Aroma is sticky caramel, toffee, light apple skins, & a deep, underlying body of sweet plums & other dark fruits. Taste is is full of sharp toasted malts, slick caramel, a touch of dark plums & figs, & a sharp apple skin note in the finish that imparts a slight tartness in the aftertaste. Heavy, sweet, sticky, lightly tart... Not bad, just not really a lot going on here. An "okay" barley wine, somewhat forgettable.
