Opaque reddish color with no head. The aroma is sweet and strong, alcohol and dark fruits. Sweet fruity and caramel flavors are balanced with strong bittersweet alcohol taste. Big bodied, big flavored beer. Goes down smooth and delicious and hits hard when it lands.

On tap at the brewery. It pours dark reddish brown with a khaki head. The aroma is rather weak with some alcohol, caramel, hints of dark fruit. The flavor is the same and unfortunately is dominated by a greenish alcohol flavor. There is some sweet caramel and brown sugar in there, with little to no hop bitterness. The body is full.

On tap at The Surly Goat. Clear dark reddish orange with a well-retained 1 1/2 finger beige head. Roasty malts up front pine and pine tar citrus nose with some caramel malts behind. Flavor still is pretty hoppy with less roast and lots of caramel/toffee to go around, but leaning more to a reduced caramel note. Finishes semi-dry with bitterness at a 3--nice on the aroma hops and not overdoing the bittering! Alcohol well masked. Full body with light carbonation. Solid American BW.
