COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Not for the hopophobic! This medium-bodied, slightly fruity golden ale was inspired by West Coast hop-heads. Big floral nose with plenty of hoppy dryness on the finish.

Draft. Big bright hops in the nose and flavor, strong presence of grain... Almost Pilsner-like. Easy drinking with a thick body and mouthfeel, intangibles like a Belgian. A bit heavy for a pale ale but very tasty!

On TAPS at TAPS Brea. Pours clear golden with head. Aromas of grapefruit, fresh hops, and caramel malts. Flavors of grapefruit citrus, bitter hops, and caramel malts. Has a nice hoppy punch but is still balanced. Pretty drinkable. Solid APA.

On tap, pint full. Very clear with a great head and gorgeous color. Nice hop aroma in the not over the top way. Very smooth and excellent Pale Ale.

A: The pour is a clear golden yellow color with a frothy white head that leaves some fantastic lacing. S: Quite a bit of citrus on the nose, mostly peels, but nice anyway. A very resinous and oily pine quality to the beer as well. Some sweet tropical fruits and malt to round things out. T: The flavor opens up with a slightly sweet malt flavor and then is followed up by grapefruit and some citrus rind. There is a decent bitterness to the beer, but not as piney as I expected due to the nose. M: The body is medium with a lively carbonation to it and a fair amount of bitterness. D: A pretty decent pale ale. Some of the flavors become a bit harsh and tiresome after too long, but it’s not a bad beer.

A: The pour is a crystal clear golden color with a nice layer of white foam on top. S: A pretty solid IPA nose on this beer, with lots of grapefruit notes and not much in the way of malt. T: Like you would expect, the hops are pretty front and center on the palate. The grapefruit and pine are the main flavors, with a dryness to the finish. M: The body is medium with very lively carbonation. D: This was definitely one of the better beers I tried tonight. The finish was perhaps a bit too dry, but overall an enjoyable beer to have a pint of.

Sampled on tap at Taps on 7/10/2010 from a 2 oz sampler. This blonde ale pours a medium gold color from the tap. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is hoppy and floral, fruity and sweet. A medium bodied blonde ale. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are floral and citrusy. Nice balance. Good carbonation. A hoppy blonde/golden ale. Very drinkable, but slightly too sweet. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

On the West Coast scale this is between medium and high hoppiness. Plenty of lingering bitterness. I could not discern any specific hop above the rest but ut was much more on the pine side of life overall.

Had on cask at TAPS. Not sure if this is the right XPA, it was just called an XPA on the board. Pours with little head and slight carbonation due to being a cask. Served at 55 degrees, not too cold or warm, just right. Aroma is citrus hops with nice orange and grapefruit flavors. Taste is hoppy, piney, and citrusy. Slightly bitter finish, but nothing too bad for an XPA. I really enjoyed this - especially on cask. Quite good with a nice hoppy finish.
