Top notch version. Pitch black pour lets no light through. Thick, lasting cocoa colored head sits on top like a thick dollop of whipped cream. Huge roasted nose. Thick, creamy full bodied brew thats almost oily in nature. Flavor hints at cocoa and coffee. Sweet but nowhere near cloying. Just the right amount of bitterness hits in the finish with just a touch of alcohol. Very, very good.

Pour on tap at the brewery, dark black pour with dark tan head, aroma brought notes of cocoa, roast, big green apple, slight tart lemon, touch of coffee into a bit of chemical notes, yikes. Taste was a mix of chemical, green apple, slight lemon peel into a bit of dark chocolate, coffee into a bit of roast.

Tap at Library Alehouse in Santa Monica, CA. Dark pour with medium coffee foam. Wispy lacing. Odd red apple nose, red apple skin, plastic, toilet. Taste is heavy red apple skin, heavy apple skin tannins, extremely mealy. Shockingly not good at all.

Tap in Brea. Rating #23. Finally getting to try this one after years of missing it. Dark black with a tan head. Aroma of dark chocolate and light coffee roast with an underlying sweetness. Flavor is dark chocolate and sweet roast, damn tasty. (2315)

5 apr 2012, tap at Taps. Black. Nose is huge espresso and tobacco. Med body and a tad fizzy. Really black coffee, tobacco, slight alcohol, very butter chocolate bitterness finish. Great.

Sampled at the brewery. It pours dark brown with a tan head. The aroma is mostly dark chocolate, coffee, and alcohol. The flavor is a bit green with some sweet chocolate, caramel, and a roasted coffee finish with some strong notes of ethanol. The body seemed a bit weak.

Found a partial keg of this and tapped the bitch. Crushed with some bras at OB. Nice brew. Pours a kinda transparent black with a tan, very fluffy head. Pretty sweet and dark fruity brew. Very drinkable.

On tap. Pours with a tan head that stays over a black body. Fruity, dark fruit, fig, chocolate, vanilla aromas. Sick lace. Flavors of chocolate, cocoa powder, vanilla, dark fruits, creme de menthe. Creamy carb.

On cask at Stone Bistro. Dark dark brown pour, very small tan head.. almost still, which I am sure is due to the hand pump. A lot of fruit in the aroma, with dark roasted malts. In the flavor the fruit is much more subtle, mostly cocoa, roasted malt, light smoke, and a touch of vanilla. Good, but a little thin for an imp stout.
