A dark London-style ale. Medium-bodied, roasty, with a hint of dark chocolate on the finish. A favorite among 18th and 19thcentury porters working in and around London.

Pour on tap at the brewery, dark brownish black pour with tan head, aroma brought notes of roast, caramel, big coffee, nutty notes with a hint of dark fruit, slight chocolate note with a slight fruit note as well. Taste was a mix of yeast, earth, dark chocolate, coffee into a bit of nuts, slight cocoa, finishing sweet.

Tap @Taps Corona. Porter. Webby latte lace on deep brown pour with red highlights. Nose is richer and roasty with hazelnut and coffee. Taste is silky and richer hazelnut coffee. Oily, rich. Pretty good.

On taps in Brea; color was a dark brown to black. Alot of coffee elements in the flavor and aroma. Roasted throughout with some dark fruit elements. A bit thin in the palate.

A: The pour is a dark brown with some red highlights when looked at in the right night. The head is thin and tan in color. S: The nose is mostly of roasted malts with a bit of dark chocolate. A decent enough caramel, malt sweetness to it as well. Maybe some toffee, too. T: Lots of roasted malt flavor which is pretty much the controlling factor in the flavor of the beer. Decent caramel and toffee sweetness, chocolate, and a bitter roasted/burnt malt character. Sort of a high carbonation which gives off a definite CO2 acidity/flavor. M: The body is medium with a pretty high carbonation for a porter. D: Pretty decent beer. Easy to drink and a moderate ABV, like most of their beers, so you could probably knock back a couple glasses.

Draft. A dark brown beer with a red shine under a brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt. The flavor is sweet with an edge of acidity from the roasted malt, leading to a dry roasted finish.

Out of the cask. I found the aroma the most elegant, because it was not only butterscotchy but plain buttery, which is hard to pull off in a dark beer. The flavor wasn’t nearly as well done: even on cask, the body came off watery and underroasted.
