COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our newest product, Taps Red Cream Ale is beginning to rival our Premium Lager in popularity with our customers. It is a delicious, full-bodies ale with a clear, beautiful red colour. Cream ale is made by using ale yeast fermented and conditioned at colder temperatures. The colder temperature causes a slower, more gradual fermentation, resulting in a smoother flavour. Our Red Cream Ale has a full-bodies silky texture that is crisp and strong in flavour, with a fresh, clean finish.

Bottle sample at Golden Tap Awards. Nice reddish-orange with a small pinkish head. Aroma of malt and raisins, with a hint of chocolate, and a faint sour tinge. Flavour starts with soft malt notes, a slightly sour fruitiness, and has a dry, light bitterness in the finish. I got those same odd sour notes from their Lager - I guess it’s from their yeast? - and like the Lager, this is an OK but not great beer.

Draught @ Winking Judge. Clear, red, with small white head. Blackberry, tobacco, and cherries in the nose. Weird cherry pit bitterness at the end. Strange but drinkable.

Pours a dark amber red with a one finger creamy head. Some lacing. The smell is very one dimensional malt which is sweet and sugary. Not an overly complex or enticing aroma. The taste is way too sweet from start to finish. There is almost no hop character to the beer, but the malt isnt complex enough to carry the taste like a brown ale or scotch ale. Quite strange. Very unbalanced. Mouthfeel is thin to medium bodied with a pretty low carbonation. Kind of feels flat in the mouth. The sweetness is too much and makes this beer pretty undrinkable. I could barely finish the can, let alone have another. Add some more damn hops

On tap at merchant ale house. Not much to it. I had this late in the night so I would like to try again in a can.

Dark red pour, flavourful beer, you can taste the malts that make up the ’red’ part and the flavour of the cream, smooth texture and a nice finish, good offering

Pleasing red/chestnut-coloured appearance. Reserved aromas of malt, berry and rum. Smooth, creamy palate could use a little more umph. Nice, fruity flavour evolves quite pleasantly, swelling towards the middle with a sensation of strawberries and cream. A nice beer, and would be even better if it wasn’t so suburban and reserved.

On tap at Taps, amber-red color, with a beige head, light toasted, caramel malt, metallic nose with a hint of soapy detergent for cleaning tank, and a subtle fruitiness aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a sweet grainy, toasty, biscuity, caramel malt, fruity, ripe apple character, with a faint cookie dough, spicy nutmeg flavour, and a faint nutty accent, leading towards a toasty, caramel malt sweetness, and a lingering hop bitterness finish.

On tap @ the brewery - My 2nd of 3 samples from the Taps line. After the premium lager, this one didn’t quite stack up, but it was still a nice beer. Some interesting malt character - I almost thought I detected corn in there, but they don’t use any. Slight fruity finish, but it works. I’ll try this again in a bottle or a can when I haven’t tasted the best of their stuff right beforehand!
