Bottle shared by bytemesis! This guy is a beast at sharing bottles! Nose is vanilla and oak with a light boozy note. Some light fusels on the nose, seems like it will be hot. Taste is vanilla with some booziness as well. Light mouthfeel. Some more vanilla as it warms, but the spirit really dominates this beer for me. Seems like a beer flavored bourbon more than a bourbon aged beer.

Bottle, thanks to jcartamg! Shared at the Homer "welcome to California" tasting. Pour is opaque black, small tan head, dissipates quickly with decent lacing. Aroma is bourbon, cocoa, roasted malts, coffee, coconut. Flavor is medium sweet, light bitter, bourbon and chocolate, light toasted coconut and vanilla. Light astringence from time in wood. Medium light body, a bit hot on the finish. Nice.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Cherry bourbon, alcohol on the nose. Strong bourbon notes, closely replicates the real thing but added sweetness and bitterness of beer. I think many people will be put off but if you like whiskey it is very good.

It’s the non sexy version of Rue d’floyd
Lacks the chocolate richness and the creamy ’voice’
I would still take it on
Over the best kind of Saison

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle shared at 4th of July BBQ (Lyons, IL). Pours again a deep blackish opaque pour, dark and ominous with decent legs on the swirl. Richer brown head stays as a fluffy layer, sticks around and laces ok. Aromas are richer roast and toast, decadent barrel shows some warmth, vanillin and toastiness. Roast, mocha and coffee. Some caramel, touches of marshmellow and coconut. Rich, really alluring stuff. Initial is firmer bodied, standing up better than it’s cousin to it’s barrel. Decent jabs of spirit intermix between firmer caramel, roasty malts, espresso and vanilla. Touches of roasty cocoa nibs meet some richer fudge, flourless chocolate cake and decent oak as we hit the backend. Rich, smooth finish from a good barrel pulled at the right moment. Lingering char and roast meet some coconut, vanillin and some gentle warmth as we taper out. Very nice stuff.
