Tap. Pours black with an average, fizzy light beige head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (toast, nutty, caramel), light hops (woody), and average esters (fruity) and notes of dates and chocolate. Flavor is heavy roasted malt and chocolate with light bitterness and fruitiness. Light body, low warmth, medium carbonation and a dry finish.

On tap at Beer Belly. Pours with a near black body with a tan head that leaves good lace. Aromas are lightly roasty, bready and a bit grainy. Minimal hop character, clean otherwise. Flavors show a lightly bitter balance with a mild bitterness overall. Roasty, toasty, light caramel. Pretty dry. Medium bubbles, creamy, medium weighted mouthfeel. Well made.

A: The beer pours nearly black with a creamy tan head sitting on top. S: Smells of coffee and coffee ground with a nice roasted malt base to it. Light sweetness in the form of toffee and molasses with some dark chocolate/cocoa powder in there as well. A mild ash note is detectable, unfortunately. T: Really a solid flavor. Roasted malts and coffee are the primary flavor components. Plenty of dark chocolate with a subtle molasses, licorice, and toffee flavor. Light earthy hops and minimal bitterness. M: Medium in body with a medium level of carbonation. O: One of the better Taps beers I’ve had. Really easy to drink.

Rating from almost a year ago. On tap; poured a dark brown with not much head. Aroma of roasted malt and fruit, with a dash of cocoa. Flavor was solid; slightly sweet, caramel, roasted malt and fruit. Solid.
