COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Prepare to be round-housed in the taste buds. This is a North American style India Pale Ale. It has an intense North West Pacific-hop character from a ridiculous amount of hops added to the brew-kettle, and then dry-hopped later on during conditioning. Citrusy, floral, and fruity flavours take front stage, while the caramel accented malts give it some balance.

On tap at Blue Palms (I’d assume that this was from the Orange County TAPS, but the name was Chuck Norris Roundhouse IPA...). Pours with a slightly hazed golden body and a lasting, just barely off-white head. Aromas are fruity, with citrus and orange water. Flavors of tea, caramel, orange, bitter and grapefruit zest. A bit of lingering bitterness, and somewhat watery (didn’t know that it was only 5%). Lively bubbles with a bit of residual sweetness (for the style).

On tap at the brewpub. Deep hazed red grapefruit colour, with sticky shelf like lace that persists. The aromas were grapefruit, perfume, pine, floral, with some resiny qualities leading to stone fruits.. Very inviting and fresh. Very bitter upfront, good tongue tingle. Stone fruit sweetness comes after the initial hop smack. Medium full bodied, creamy, with a piney citric finish with low bitterness. Excellent example.

Tap at brewery. Very nice beer. Aromas of caramel, and flowers. Taste is sweet, with lingering bitterness at the end. Palate is velvety, with a medium body. Amber, with a frothy white head.

On tap at Taps, bright amber color, with a beige head, soapy floral hop leafy citrusy nose of lemon, grapefruit peels with some grassy, cedary accents upfront in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a nice fruity, citrusy flowery hop, leafy, grassy character with some spritzy minty cloverleaf bitterness, and some zesty lemon, grapefruit peel notes, leaving no undertone maltiness, leading towards a fruity, hop citrusy, leafy, grassy bittering finish.

[3363-20100827] Tap. Strong sweet maple hops aroma. Clear, amber orange body with a quick foamy off-white head. Bitter hops flavour has quite a stinging bittersweet citrus aftertaste. Medium-full boozy body. A fairly kick-ass beer here.

August 27, 2010 - on draught at Volo. And I spent about an hour talking to the brewer, too - nice guy, but made me feel about 100 years old (he looked about twenty). Deep copper with a solid lasting fizzy/creamy beige head. Simple aroma, but appealing - "C" hops dominate, with enough caramel malt in the background to balance it; a bit spicy (7+). Back-palate bitter taste, dryly hoppy, but much more grain/malt -forward that the aroma ... slightly carbonized, but not too much ... Average body, very lively, medium-long bitter finish, leaves a slightly dry, vaguely burnt aftertaste; big marks for that aroma, I’d sure like to see less malt and more hops ---- but hell, I always say that!

2010-08-27. Crisp dark orange amber body with a modest beige head. 3+ Aroma is pleasantly hoppy, notes of citrus, but almost seems to disappear after you take a drink of it. 7+ Flavour is pleasantly bitter, modest citrus notes throughout, light resin. 7+ Smooth average plus palate. 3+ Rather decent, very drinkable. On tap at Volo, Toronto

On tap at Volo. Appearance: golden red, small white head. Aroma: candy hops, a little orange & pine too. Flavour: bitter at first, sticky raspberry, hops, a little smoke, pine too, a long tangy finish. A little tankhouse-ish. Nice.

UPDATED: AUG 23, 2010 This beer is 6.7% ABV, not 5% Had on cask at the Merchant Ale House. Aroma was very citrusy, graprfruity. Floral notes came in behind that. It looked a little hazy, with a thick, dense head on top. Great lacing. It was very tastey. Cirus fruits up front. Grapefruit and tangerine. Some carmelly malts in there too... Juicy. Good bitterness. It was medium to full bodied. Carbonation was average or maybe a bit higher than usual. Overall, a great IPA. One of the best I’ve had recently in Ontario.

Enjoyed on tap at the brewpub. Reddish colour, with a little white head. Spider lacey. Served way too cold. Much more drinkable when warmed. Decent bitterness, not sure of hop but it emits some floral fragrance. Average mouthfeel. Somewhat aggressive carbonation, mouthfeel is average.
