During the brewing of experimental beer at the brewery “Taruškų alaus bravoras” a type of beer with hemp was made. This beer has received great popularity among students, and then among wider audience as well. For brewing beer of “Kanapinis” type roasted hemp seeds are used, which gives the beer a smell of roasted nuts and a burnt, sweet taste.

butelka 1l. oryginalna etykieta trochę "niepiwna", piwo polecone przez kolegę Gediminasa z Kowna i naprawdę strzał w dziesiątkę. Świeżość , smak, miękkość we wchodzeniu w gardło, delikatnie słodkawy finish, zero kwasu. Wyborne!

Interesting, powerfully "living" yeasty beer, it’s a good combination of a Ternopil-style zhyve pivo with a Helles, with a bit of Hefeweizen wheat. Way better than estonian mass-market for sure, and a welcome gift from LT houseguests

UPDATED: JUN 9, 2011 Super thick and creamy head, really lasting. The aroma is really nosehair curling, lactic, forest pine, light rye bread. The flavor is moderately sour and highly bitter. Palate spritzy but not over the top. Tongue-tingling spices of some kind (sting of high amounts of cinnamon but not cinnamon...?). Challenging and refreshing session beer. Awesome 2 liter bottle, best before Dec 30, 2010. Love this beer.

bottle, thank you very much, Schroppfy! Cloudy golden yellow, large white head. Fruity-sour nose. Wild and sourish, malty base with some herbal hops. Hints of ananas and tropical fruit. Another interesting wild beer from Lithuania.

The head is robust, the body orange and cloudy. It smells malty, special, a bit flowery. Taste is malty, special, flowery, sweet, refreshing, natural. Good and interesting. 12/12/12/12/-/12

Draught at Šnekutis , Šv. Stepano, Vilnius. Lightly hazy golden, small head. Aroma of honey and grass. Sweet with clean, rounded mouthfeel and medium body. Honey is prevalent and it feels surprisingy filling. Finishes withminerally bitterness.

In short: A thirst blonde lager with a light countryside twist. Nice
How: Tap at Gyvas Pub, Kaunas, Lithuania
The look: Mostly clear blond body topped by a small white head
In long: Nose is wet hay, a bit of wet cat, cereals, a bit of grass. Taste has plenty of chewy hay, a tiny bit of honey, light tropical fruits and banana notes, light presence of herbaceous hops. A nice thirst lager with discreet notes of the Lithuanian farmhouse/terroir. I can’t believe the many bad ratings that this fine beer has on this website, but if there’s one important lesson I’ve learnt ever since I was a little kid and read Three Little Pigs it is that 2 individuals out of 3 are idiots.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of Schroppfy. Pours a cloudy yellow with a lacing white head. Tart fruity nose. Fairly light body, lactic acidity, bonbonish banana accents, very dry and almost ashy. Ends very mouthdrying almost astringent with the hops being fairly downplayed. Again a very interesting Lithy beer! 080911

Bottle 50 cl. Pours hazy orange in color with a small whitish head. Toasted bready notes, some butterscotch sweetness. Very nice. Sweetish toffee and bready notes in taste, some minerals towards the end as well. A bit light perhaps in taste, but otherwise quite enjoyable. Gets better towards the finish though, the sweetness is present, but it’s quite a nice mix between toffee and minerals here.
