2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Pours close to clear copper, beige medium top diminish fast, min lasing. Aroma - toasted malt mostly, some licorice and honey, maybe something like dark sugar as well. Taste - a bit roasted flavor, bitter above average, light sweet, a bit caramel-sugary, min sour in finish, light dry ending as well. Palate - medium bodied, watery texture, not very pleasant light sweet-bitter aftertaste, average carbonation, quite sharp flavor, too much roast goes out of balance.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
0.5 L bottle shared by larsga. Unclear copper colored body. Low dirty blond head. Rich caramel aromas, some toasted grain and a hint of fresh grass. Caramel-accented malt body. Peppery and toasted, and light acidic. Fruity yeast tones. Soft on the palate. Quite full. Nice acidity linger in the finish. Exciting stuff. A farmhouse Dunkel?

500 ml bottle. BB 3 III 2013. From Lithuania. Ačiū Tautvydas!
Hazy dark brown colour with a small to average sized light tan head.
Malt, yeast, honey, diacetyl and bread in the aroma.
The flavour is much easier. There’s malt, bread, mild yeast and mild diacetyl. Some sweetness too. Drinkable. Soft carbonation.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Another solid, complex, bready, yeasty beer full of flavor from Panevezys Municipality, brought by Lithuanian houseguests. Uniquely non-sweet and non-hoppy, a pleasant change of pace indeed!

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
dobre i prawie rewelacyjne piwo. Miłośnikom kwaśnych lambicków napewno przypadnie do gustu. Kolor przypomina raczej dzikie Ale niż dunkela.

Medium beige head. Slightly hazy deep amber body. Earthy dusty
strawy aroma with caramelly grainy notes. Dry-sweetish earthy
roasty caramelly taste with dusty nougat notes. Mid-bodied.
Mild, slightly hot, mealy mouthfeel. Dry dusty strawy roasty
grain aftertaste with chocolatey earthy notes. Really nice and
full of flavour. (0.5l bottle, from Bamb Alyne, Vilnius.)

2 litre bottle from Beers Of Europe.Dark Lithuanian beer sampled between the members of our small beer club. This beer poured with a small head and quickly produced aromas of malt and hay. These were evident in the taste also along with toffee and caramel.Citrus also came through on 3rd or 4th sip.Sour taste in there too but was nicely balanced by the toffee notes.Nice start to the days sample session.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
2 litre bottle (5.3% abv) from an ethnic foodstore in Scunthorpe. Hazy red brown, thin but sustained cream coloured head and gentle condition. Initial buttery sweet caramel notes in the nose but developing a peppery spiciness as it warms, some earthiness from the hops and a touch of burnt smokiness from the darker malts. Quite sweet from the start in the mouth but a dry bitterness and burnt toast note quickly balances this out, theres a background yeastiness and a suggestion of butteriness akin to a German dunkel but with a tangy fruit note lurking in the background and lingering into the finish where it is joined by a gentle chalky yeast bitterness that becomes dominant but never opressive.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
In short: A darker Lithuanian beer offering a stack of toasted hay with a light farmhouse character. Highly drinkable
How: Bottle 500ml. Consumed fresh the day of purchase, split 4-way
The look: Almost clear dark-golden body topped by a small beige head
In long: Nose has plenty of very toasted hay (a recurring theme with many Lithuanian traditional breweries), some cookies and light rural farmhouse character. Taste is once again very toasted, a bit of caramel and toffee, some roasted wood. Overall low sweetness sensation. This one is an average just a slightly above average Lithuanian Tamsus but I really dig the dryness and the super-toasted character of those Lithuanian darker ales. Very sessionnable. Another good Lithuanian beer with only bad ratings except those from some of my friends from Montreal, you guys are alright, I’ll kill you last.
