Mild caramel malt profile is balanced by muted bittering hops and a bit of fruity flavoring hops. Seemed more like a classic English ESB. Could use some refinement. | 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | May 28, 2008 On tap at Taylor Brewing. Poured translucent coppery-amber with a short cap of off-white head. The aroma picked up artificially-sweetened caramel with pine, toffee, and candied dark fruits around.. un-nervingly sweet. The flavor was also very sweet with a cheaply-sweetened caramel impression upfront.. bitterness built, but remained mild with rough pine and medicinal notes. Very highly carbonated with a sticky, ugly vegetal and bitter impression on the finish. Not good, and not much of an IPA. Walt (2289), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Apr 15, 2008 Pour is clear light golden amber with a thin white head...smell is sort of meaty...not smokey meaty but just like beef jerky in general...taste is sweet and foul...I don’t know what was wrong with this but staff members said that everyone has said this about this beer lately... | 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Aug 15, 2006 Draught during my Great Lakes region brew tour. Pours pretty dark red, this is one of the darker IPA’s that i’ve seen. This has, strangely, a predominantly malty aroma with just hints of citrus. I find this to be very weird. It has rubbery, tame hops and mostly caramel sweetness is detectable. There is a juicy berry note in there, maybe like raspberries. The finish brings out a taste of paper. I had to stretch my imagination to envision this as an IPA. kwoeltje (1337), Manchester, Missouri, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 7/20 | Jun 17, 2006 (draught) medium amber with almost no head. No lace to speak of. Very little aroma. Flavor was a bit fuller bodied than their Poseidon Pale Ale, but the same sour finish. Where are the hops? frankenkitty (1903), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA

Golden/amber, slightly darker in color than their APA with a happy, soapy head. Pine and citrus aroma. Dry-hopping is more evident in the mouth than the nose... finishing roasty over all the bitters. Pretty good, but a little thin.

This poured an orange-copper color with a slight white head. I smelled just as much malt as there was citric (grapefruit?) hops. Malty flavor with a mildly bitter hop finish. Needs work.

| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Oct 11, 2003 Bland bland bland. Dark brown slight hops in the nose with lots of hops in the taste, but it just is bland and one directional.
