A traditional British brown ale featuring a deep chestnut color, slightly roasted malt flavor, and an aroma hinting of fine English hops.

On tap at Taylor Brewing. Poured clear, garnety-amber with a short cap of whitish head. The aroma picked up sweeter, lightly-roasted dark fruity and caramel notes with too much sweetness.. blocked out what hoppage may have been there. The flavor was sweet with darker, in-your-face chocolate and fruity sweetness.. light, prickly fruit and something I couldn’t identify for dark bitterness.. long impression on the finish.. kind of unnerving. Slightly less than medium-bodied on the palate with higher carbonation.. tacky, ugly impression on the finish.

Draft sampler. By sticking to the stuff made by Capital or Two Brothers, I’m finding some godd beers at this place… regrettably, their own brews keep running out. This does have a dark roast malt to it, just a touch of porter to keep it going, with a large set of English hops, maybe more than a Brown should have. Actually feels best at the aftertaste.

Contract brewed by Capital Brewery, Middleton, WI

A weakly-hazed sepia without much of a head. Vinegared aroma with a touch of roast. Medium-bodied with a sweet malted flavor that moved to a bittersweet, nutty ending with a touch of salt. An average beer. Keep moving...

UPDATED: JUL 18, 2005 Pours a clear, light brown color with a slight tan head. Not a bad aroma, roasted malts, some nuttiness, and a dash of grassy hops. Nice sweet malts on the toffee side with a good balance on the hops. Clean finish.
