Tap at Server Land. Rich copper red colour, creamy off white head. Aroma is sausages and smoked cheese. Taste, smoke is prominent, meaty, light caramel, cheesy, honey! Decent maltiness. Really easy to drink and different flavours come out as you go down the glass. Great stuff.

Draft to flute
Sake, plums, peach, and brown sugar, but not saccharin and subtle smokiness. Deep transparent red with a thin white ring. The plum is quite strong, some peppery smokiness though. Not quite a rauchbier in my opinion.

Draft - Plum, cherry, mild smoke and some oak notes. Cloudy amber with a thin head. Bacony smoke that is sweet vs. the campfire smoke. Almost light peat. The flavours are almost vinous. I was fount ante enough to be drinking withe the brewer and he explained that their smoked beers use local wood, which would explain the significant differences between German and American smoked beers.

Draught at Kamikaze. Fairly light smokey aroma compared to Fujizakura. Very smooth and perfectly balanced. The sweetness at the beginning and smoke finishing it off were wonderful. It definitely does not feel like 7.5%.

Draught at the Great Japan Beer Festival in Osaka (7/13/2013). A little smoke in the aroma -- maybe liquid smoke added? Medium amber color. Quite smoky initial / mid and final a good but not quite rounded or full. Some decent punches at the top and good caramel backing. Medium body. Pretty good, but not up there with the best.

7.5% On tap at the GJBF Osaka. A nice amber pour with a light beige head. The aroma is definitely smokey with maybe a hint of peat but quite appetizing. The flavor is bacon, smoke, malts, some sweetness. Really easy drinking stuff, you don’t feel the 7.5%. Possibly not as good as Fujizakura’s but they did a good job. Solid stuff.

Now at 7.5%. Tap. Excellent, well balanced Rauch. Up there with Fujizakura.Softly smoked with some cured ham and dark malts. Never overpowering - everything is in harmony with no competing flavours. Well made.

Sampled at the 2010 Yokohama Beer Fest. This was aged 8 years and was smooth as a baby’s bottom. Slightly smoked and suitable for a good downing. Was missing the really malty backbone, but made up for it with undisputed real ale character.

A Special version that had been aged for 6 years at the brewery.
Very smokey caramel-molasses aroma. Very nice. Orange-brown color; looks decent. Nice frothy, head. A lovely smoky flavor, woody, fabulous. The aging comes through very well. Smooth as silk.
