The aroma has notes of apple, apricot, berry, toasted barley and rye, slightly buttery, and some dusty yeast esters. The taste starts bitter and tart. The rye does stand out and is integrated throughout. Some sweet and nutty tones as well. Nice smooth and creamy mouthfeel with a bite on the finish, very good. Darn nice rye what ever may be the style. Enjoyed with Andy, Jeff, Jacob, and Mike. OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA

Citrus aroma with some spice over caramel malts. I could also pick up the rye in the nose. Flavor is rye, caramel, and citrus hops. Chewy palate with a bitter and crisp finish. fredandboboflo (1431), East Setauket, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 26, 2008 Bottle. Aroma of rye bread, light citrus, rye seed, light cracker, more and more citrus as warms. Flavor somewhat dominated by the citrus hops with the rye becoming more generalized malt backbone, but still tasty. Sharp carbonation and a nice bitter finish. Good stuff. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 16, 2005 Sample at the brewpub. Copper-chestnut hued with just a smidgeon of head...bready nose, hints of pie spice and oregano, quite interesting...body sweeter than other RN samples I had, hinting of strawberry and vanilla, juicier and fruitier as it warms, with apricot on offer towards the finish...ends by drying out just a bit with some very light carroway moments. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 15, 2006 Sample at the brewpub: Pours a light orange-amber color with a thin light beige head, and thin rings of lacing. The aroma consists of hops and rye. Medium, soft body, with a flavorful mix of hops, rye and citrus. The finish is hoppy with hints of citrus and nuts lingering. Pretty good all around. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | May 31, 2004 This was almost a minor beer at the Brew Kettle - we were so wrapped up in the double IPA and Barleywine, I almost forgot about this one! The main thing was the body - full and soft - exploding with flavor from front to back - malts, rye bread crust, tangy hops. It was an odd juxtoposition - such a full soft palate working with instead of against the flavors!! kujo9 (1079), North Ridgeville, Ohio, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Jun 2, 2004 Updated: Apr 16, 2008Deep amber w/ a short lived white head when first poured. I blame the cleaning solution since it was probably cleaned just previous to me getting my beer. Caramel and light floral hop; rye bread aroma very light, toasty with low fruitiness. Well balanced a bit to bitter which lasts into the finish and aftertaste. Hop flavor is moderate, rye flavor is stronger in flavor than aroma. Low hop flavor dominates the aftertaste and some fruitiness comes into play after it warms, as does a hint of caramel. Medium carbonation, dry m/f, medium bodied. This beer gets better the more I have. Slightly stronger and more slightly complex than the 4 C’s. Very nice summer quaffer! argo0 (7044), Washington DC, USA
