A true TBK original, we kick this German-style black lager up a couple notches. Big clean malty flavor with just a hint of roasted malt. "May the Schwartz be with you!"

Sampled at the DC Local Tasting a 22oz bottle pours a watery cola brow with one ring of white head. Nose is malty, sweet, brown sugar, crackers, dark bread, yeast. Flavor is sweet, crackers, bread, yeasty, light chocolate. Medium bodied finish.

Bottle. Almost black, bright tan head. Aroma of moldy leather. Taste of bitter chocolate soda. An unfortunate choice as my last beer of the tasting.

Bottle. Pours clear black with a medium, fizzy off-white head, short retention with light lacing. Aroma is light caramel and chocolate malt, dark fruity esters and light hops. Flavor is dark malt and fruity esters, low hops and bitterness with a sweet finish. Light body, low warmth and medium carbonation.

Pours a very dark brown. Aroma and flavor are similar, sort of a raisin influenced malt note throughout. Interesting, rather liked it.

Dark with a off white head. Aroma was clean with lightly roasted malts, light molasses, chocolate. Flavor was much the same and the roasted malts were quite restrained but noticable still. Body was fuller than many schwarzbiers I’ve had, which makes sense, and a bit smoother. Sweet finish. Good beer.

Bomber from Belmont Party Supply shared at the 16th Richmond Ratebeer Gathering, 11/5/11. Pours very dark brown with a medium fizzy brown head. Fair head retention. Aroma of roasted malts, smoke and sweet malts. The taste is rich roasted malts, coffee, sweet malts and faint hops. Medium-full bodied. Nice.

Bottle. Super sweet and cloying aroma. Gross sweet weird flavor. Mellows a little as you drink it. Boozy.

Nose is robust and full of sweet chocolate malts, roasted notes, slight smokiness, fruity sugars, and alcohol. Pours dark brown, thin head, not lasting really. The flavor is sweet initially with lots of fruity residual sugars, this is followed by roasted notes, smoke, alcohol, earthy bitterness, and more lingering residual sugars. Almost like a lagered imperial stout or some bullshit. Somewhat hot, somewhat thin. Weird, interesting. Nice to try. Too sweet.

Bottle shared by adnielsen (thanks, Aaron!) - must everything be "imperialized" these days - nose of booze, light grassy hops, char, chocolate, light berry - flavor is simultaneously too sweet and too bitter - lots of bitterness from the dark malt - sugary sweetness - roast is intense, bordering on ashy - some grassy hops and blueberry in the mix - not terrible, but boozy, and many of the flavors are far too "sharp" - meh.
