This beer converted me into an IPA drinker. The Simcoe hops have a nice citrus, grapefruit taste. It is medium in body and but very bitter. I do not recommend it for Joe Budweiser but I am sure his facial expression is priceless after sipping this beer.

WOW. Solid and full-bodied malt base, with a perfect balance of bitter and aromatic hops. My all time favourite IPA.

Had on draft at The Brew Kettle in Strongsville, OH. Incredible. What a surprise. I have never even given Ringneck beers a second thought. This beer has an aroma of hops and sweet fruit. A true hop bomb, flavors of citrus, fruit, and a small trace of spice at the tail end. This IPA is as fresh and flavorful as any beer that I’ve had in 2008. Served a little too cold, as it warmed, it truly grew into an amazing beer. The bombers were only 5 dollars!

It’s one of my favorites and this one is on point. Can’t stop drinking them and they are 10%. This one is as good as it was in 05’!!

Bottle via trade with miketd. Pours a clear copper orange color. Moderate foamy white head with great retention and lacing. Nice aroma of sweet caramel with plenty of grassy, floral and piney hops. Flavor is wonderfully complex and balanced, with floral and grassy notes up front, followed by a hint of caramel malt and then taken over by lots of piney hops. Clean, slightly dry mouthfeel. Moderate alcohol burn and lots of hop bitterness in the finish. Excellent.

UPDATED: NOV 12, 2009 Draft @ Brew Kettle. Wow, what a pleasant surprise. Slightly hazy orangish amber. Huge hop aroma for an IIPA( I find so many IIPAs lacking in aroma compared to IPAs due to so much more malt being needed to balance all of the wonderful hops), flowery and fruity. Hop explosion in my mouth from the first sip. Nice malt flavor keeping things drinkable, finish is hoppy dry and lingering, mmmmmmm. Take out bombers are only $5.00? ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!!!!

Slightly malty aroma with hints of pine and mint. Sweet taste with a hoppy finish. Very clean.

22 ounce bottle. Served in a snifter, the beer pours a dark amber/orange color with about a half inch off-white head. Head retention is average, but there’s a good amount of lacing. The aroma is mostly hops, both citrusy and pine. There’s also some caramel malt noticable. The taste is the same as the aroma, it’s mostly citrusy and pine hops and some caramel malt in there too. Also has a good lingering bitter hoppy finish, and the taste isn’t harsh at all. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it’s a bit slick and creamy with moderate carbonation. Drinkability is great, it’s smooth and extremely easy to drink. I think this is a pretty good overall brew, it’s one of the better Imperial IPA’s I’ve had in a while. I’ll definitely buy this again soon!

UPDATED: FEB 16, 2005 Golden amber beer but the white head doesn’t last, probably due to alcohol. Very citrusy, all Simcoe hops according to the brewer, hints of toasty caramel, but hops dominate. Fruitiness is all about the grapefruit. Very well balanced for a big beer. The malt character does not get over shadowed by the hops which dominate, but caramel and some other fruitiness is under the citrusy hop flavor. Finishes a well balanced, but a very pleasant bitterness creeps into the aftertaste. Very smooth m/f with a well hidden alcohol, full bodied. It’s been a while since I’ve had a beer from here and they have definitely stepped it up. I think this beer is more well balanced than Rogue’s, as citrusy as Dreadnaught, and just as well made as the two. Fantastic beer! This beer gets better every time I have it.
Cask Version @ Ogrefest 2/15/05: Cloudy medium amber w/ a lasting medium sized white head.
All the above characteristics, but the bitterness and all other flavors are melded together for a very smooth, dangerously drinkable beer. The carbonation does not get in the way of any of the flavors or aromas and it’s an all natural beer.
