This is a great java brew. Taste and smell the coffee notes. The only things i think this is missing is a good head.

12oz bottle. Brown-black body. Creamy beige head. Mellow chocolate aroma. Has a sharp bite up front, a sour coffee twang that could be mild infection or it could be intentional. I canít really get past that even though it has nice malt tones underneath, I just donít enjoy the balance. Still drank it, just wouldnít buy a six-pack.

Pours deep dark brown with a thin tan head. Aromas of raisin, chocolate and malt. Taste is roasted coffee with a slightly smoky sour finish. With a medium body and low carbonation, its pretty drinkable. Overall a good porter.

Bottle. Pours black with very little head. Strong roasted coffee aroma with some chocolate and caramel too. Taste has very little sweetness, mostly strong, bitter roasted coffee. Not balanced at all but I donít mind since I enjoy a nice roasted coffee sometimes. Some nice light milk chocolate shows up in the finish too. Medium body, smooth mouthfeel, very easy to drink. Great porter.

Bottle pour opaque black with mahogany hues. Lots of large soda bubbles. Nose toffee, caramel, molasses. Taste roast, coffee, chocolate. Fairly strong sweet mid palate. Bitter finish.

It pours black with a medium chocolate head. It has a heavy roast aroma with hints of chocolate. It has a medium sweetness with a light sour. It has a surprisingly Lightbody with a fairly thin texture and slightly better finish. There isnít much to say about this other than itís a good porter.

Bottle courtesy of Doodler (thanks Scott) poured a clear dark reddish brown with a lingering ring of tan foam. Aromas of roastiness, bitter chocolate and light coffee. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of roasted malt and bitter chocolate with a smooth lingering roasty finish.

Aroma of about 60/40 coffee to milk chocolate ratio, moderate roast and light blueberry. Appearance is oily black with sticky mocha head. Flavor has a roast, almost smokey character up front; the coffee is present but not dominant; there is some sweetness suggested, but never realized; the finish is dry and somewhat resiny. Personally, I miss the fruit presence suggested in the nose. Palate is medium, oily and soft. A very good porter.

Color is nice. Almost no head. Very chocolatey aroma. Smooth and surprisingly light on the tongue. Itís got all the flavors you want in a porter. Bitter coffee, loads of chocolate, light smoke, some oak and vanilla. The first couple sips didnít do a lot for me, but now that itís warmer, all the flavors are coming out more. Definitely give this some time to come up to temp. Itíll make a difference. This is very good, but itís a step below the elite porters Iíve had. But I couldnít tell you whatís missing. Certainly not a disappointment.

Opaque brown/black with a short head that quickly becomes a ring, light swirls of lace. The taste is complex - the usual roasted malt with hints of chocolate are overcome midway through the palate by a touch of smoke. Mild bittering closes things out and cleans the palate nicely. An interesting, albeit heavy brew.
