Thick and black as oil, this rich imperial stout is complex yet smooth. Rounded roastiness with flavor notes of coffee, chocolate and dark fruit dominate a intense explosion of flavor.

Bottle @ Steve’s Foco, courtesy of Veldrid. Thanks Jeff! Pours a deep brown/black appearance with a nice brown head. Toasty, thick dark chocolate, light brownie syrup, light vanilla, slightly burnt aroma. Light coffee, a touch herbal, lightly floral, lightly fruity, easy drinking thick dark chocolate flavor. Tasty brew.

Nose of dark fruit, leather, roast, chocolate, and some smoke and alcohol. Pours almost black with a tan head that settles to a ring. Flavors of leather, meat, smoke, chocolate, earthy roast, and a good deal of dark fruity sweetness. Thick bodied moderately carbonated with some lingering alcohol in the finish.

Bomber to snifter. Looks good; black with tan lacing. Smells and tastes solid; malt, chocolate, and coffee. Average on the palate. Enjoyable.

Double deuce - pours black with two fingers of soapy beige head and thin lacing. Nose is dark fruit, barley and roasted malts. If I didn’t know any better, from the nose alone, I would characterize this as barley wine. Flavor adds toffee and dark chocolate. Dry finish. Well balanced between sweetness and bitterness. Full body. Coffee aftertaste. A sipping beer.

0.65l bottle from my secret summer Santa Veldrid. This is a lovely looking oily jet-black one with a big creamy chocolate top that has some bubbles on the top of it. Looks amazing in the glass. In the aroma I get traces of dark chocolate, roasted and burned malts, sweet corn, cold coffee, cough pastilles, soy sauce and some leathery licorice. It’s not extreme in a sense that it hits you in the face, more subtle and nuanced, but quite nice. It has a soft gently carbonated carbonation level and a thick oily, yet silky creamy and smooth mouthfeel. The flavors are mainly dark roasted with some burned traces, but there is also chocolate, dried blueberries and a soft cold coffee-acidity in this one. Ends surprisingly mouthdrying and almost a bit astringent. Lot’s of flavor and a fine imp stout. 27.10.2012

Pours black with a medium mocha head. Aroma has some burnt notes, bitter dark chocolate, and a touch of dark fruit. Flavor is robust with dark fruit, burnt notes, and tobacco. Mouthfeel is medium and the finish is very bold...roasty tobacco/bitter dark chocolate and lingering.

No bottling date.

A: This beer is absolutely pitch black even through the edges with not much in the way of a head, only a very thin and short lived tan coating.

S: The aroma is of sweet chocolate and some dark fruits, but no roasted aromas at all, it’s also a bit faint.

T: The flavor is much like the aroma with sweet chocolate and dark fruits being the main flavors but there’s a light smoke flavor in this with only hints of coffee mostly on the finish. I’m also picking up some licorice on the finish.

M: The body is silky and thick with only light carbonation, a bit syrupy.

O: This is a solid imperial stout, but in the seas of the great ones this becomes forgotten. The price is decent though and I think that this is a beer well-worth buying once.

Poured from 22oz bottle. Pours very dark brown, nearly black with just a bit of tan head. Aroma smoked wood and some alcohol. Taste has some toasted wood, dried fruit, and burnt chocolate.

Dark brown, edging towards black with a small, quick fading beige head. Rich roasty aroma, coffee, cocoa. Has that melted candy bar aspect to it. Bits of vanilla come out, lots of roasted malt. Flavors were roasty and bitter from top to bottom, burnt toast, raw coffee grounds and dark bitter cocoa sum it up. Lingering bitter finish, medium mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Beat my expectation by a long shot. This was rather good, I enjoyed it.

From the 8/2012 3R6P tasting +++ Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a large foamy dark brown head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was sweet cocoa, anise and cherry. The flavor was sweetish and bitter with floral and fruity hops and notes of cherry, anise, root beer and a bit of charcoal. Long bitter floral hop finish with lingering black licorice and charcoal. Moderately full bodied. Decent.
