2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: MAY 12, 2003 Pale golden appearance with striking clarity, a light carbonation, and a “don’t blink or you’ll miss it” foam. The nose gives an inviting blend of malt and hops with a slight peppery note. There’s a slight sourness, maybe skunkiness, that gets masked behind an otherwise agreeable aroma. This is a medium bodied, easy drinking beer, smooth on the palate but also carrying a little ruggedness with a gentle carbonation. An almost herbal, fruit estery flavor briefly questions the tip of the palate and makes you think that this brew is not all as simple as it might seem. This is followed by a grainy dryness that balances against an adequately weighted malt backbone. A disappointing sourness creeps into the aftertaste, encouraging a swift second sip (or guzzle).

You know, the Mexicans have made some beer I atually like. This is no different. Good lager with the hint of bitterness that is pleasing instead of overpowering.

Mexican swill? I always seem to find a better beer than this wherever it’s served. Also always seems to be rotten on tap. Wet, sharply albeit lightly bittered and mineral or metallic are characteristics that really don’t make for a great beer. Hey, if the water’s bad, brush your teeth with this shit!

A GOOD BEER IN THE HOT SUN. YOU CAN HAMMER AWAY AT THEM, MUCH BETTER IN THE CAN FOR SOME REASON, AND NOT BAD WITH A COUPLE SHOTS OF ’DEAD PERUVIANS’. A GOOD CHOICE TO BRING TO MUSIC FESTIVALS WHERE GLASS IS FORBIDDEN.

Sweet, smooth, slightly malty. Garden variety.

A cheap Mexican beer, very weak and light. This makes Corona look like Chimay by comparison. Very bad stuff.

4/12. Rated this a 3.9
12/24. What the hell was i thinking? Tried this again recently and i thought that was about double what it deserved. Bland with a hint of malt and citrus. I must have been drunk previously.

2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
A watered-down Corona. That said, somewhat enjoyable. This is what Coors Light should have been: Not too sweet, not too sour. Middle ground brew that I usually find fresh.

An ok beer. Semi-dark color, average aroma. Nice aftertaste ... not too overly bitter.

I honestly think that this is an underrated beer. Yes, it is simplistic, but it is thirst-quenching. There’s a certain sweetness, not at all overbearing, that appeals to me. So many American beers could do worse than this. It’s better out of the can than the bottle, in my opinion; one of the few beers that is.
