Tap @ Teerenpeli, Lappeenranta. Coffee like color with small quickly diminishing white head. Carbonation dominates nose and is closed. Medium bodied, low carb brew with flavors of rye, coffee beans and long lasting toasted taste.

33cl 4.5% on brown bottle, from Joulupukki @ kilpishalli. Head: Beige, some lacings. Body: Brown with some dark red, may see through. Scents: Roasted, licorice, coffee. Taste: Crispy fresh roasted malts, mocca coffee, licorice, To palate: Gentle, medium, faint metallic hints, a bit too high carbonation. Ending: Chocolate sauce, a little bitter under, nice final. Overall: A good dark one. Enjoyed at new years day, shared with my beautiful Frau Anna.

Leini (711) - SWEDEN - DEC 11, 2013
On tap @ Teerenpeli, Turku. Dark brown body with a low crown. Dried fruits, hint of smoke, roasted malt, coffee and herbs that made me think of Coca-Cola for some reason. Heavy carbonation, hard liquid.

Draught@lappeenranta. Dark brown. Dark bready malts, a bit of woody hops. Medium light body, dry, a bit hard. Dark grainy malts, some herbs. A bit of a doughy finish. Could be softer, fuller.

33cl bottle at The Oak Barrel, Helsinki Airport. Pours clear copper coloured with an off-white head. Mild malty aroma with caramel some hoppy notes and hints of roasted malt. Medium sweet and caramely with a nicely bitter and lightly spicy finish. Quite okay, but nothing special. (2013-08-19)

Way too malty for my taste. Sweet and some yeasty fruits. Teerenpeli make just quite boring beers.

Dark brown beer with moderate head and lacing on the glass. Good aromas of toasted malts. Pretty malty sweet taste but a bit stuffy. Moderate amount of bitterness but a rather thin body and medium finish.

Whatever is going on here is very confusing. Perhaps I got a bad bottle but this was a beer with little purpose and no cohesiveness. At least I got to try another Finnish brewery so that’s something positive. Unless you need the tick move on to something better.

Aroma / Appearance - The brownish black base has a rich chestnut feel. Wheat light chocolate feels a bit timid as if this is afraid to offend the sensitive drinker. The smell of whiteout does little to help invite further inspection.

Flavor / Palate - Watered down creme brulee is immediately sweet on the tongue. Dilute chocolate truffle essence slides lazily into a bitter but mild finish. Overall it’s a bit meh - to be expected given the low gravity.
