Reviewed 2/24/13. Thanks to Momar42 for this German curiosity! 500ml bottle into a nonic pint glass. A: Pours a very pale straw color featuring excellent carbonation. The head is a two finger whIte color. It fades at a moderate clip, and leaves nice patches of lacing going down. S: It’s a typical aroma for the style - lots of grassy hops, unobtrusive malts, and some diacetyl. I’d say the latter is a bit more prevalent than I’d like, but a fairly good aroma otherwise. T: At first, the buttery diacetyl presence (just like in the aroma) comes fairly strongly. Luckily, it smooths out into nicely crisp, hoppy bite on the finish. Some slight fruitiness will try to build up, as well. Not ultra interesting, but about what I expect from the style. M: Light and crisp to be sure - but sadly the finish and aftertaste isn’t as dry as I’d like here. For that reason, it lacks great drinkability. It’s got good carbonation, at least. O: Not bad. I’d say this one is a notch or two below the best of the style, though. Worth a try.

Bottle from my neighbour that was down in Munich, thank Anders. Medium lastin clear white head over a clear yellow collored beer. Crisp maltiness with freesh nobel hop aroma. Big hop taste for a helles bier with a smooth bitterness. Easy to drink in large amounts. A very good Helles.

Oct. ’14. Thanks to Marko for sharing a 0.5l bottle that my parents got specially for him :) It poured clear, pale yellow body with a big head. Fine malty aroma, bready and grainy, some elegant honey, too. Flavor was lightly sweet, caramel, toast and buttery. Medium bodied with moderately long, pleasantly toasted finish. As Marko pointed out, on a blind tasting I wouldn’t be sure I’m having a pale or dark lager, but no matter, it was a nice and pleasant helles.

Just the way a Helles should be, gold looking, refreshing and "süffig". Just great. :)
