Reviewed 2/24/13. Thanks to Momar42 for this German curiosity! 500ml bottle into a nonic pint glass. A: Pours a very pale straw color featuring excellent carbonation. The head is a two finger whIte color. It fades at a moderate clip, and leaves nice patches of lacing going down. S: It’s a typical aroma for the style - lots of grassy hops, unobtrusive malts, and some diacetyl. I’d say the latter is a bit more prevalent than I’d like, but a fairly good aroma otherwise. T: At first, the buttery diacetyl presence (just like in the aroma) comes fairly strongly. Luckily, it smooths out into nicely crisp, hoppy bite on the finish. Some slight fruitiness will try to build up, as well. Not ultra interesting, but about what I expect from the style. M: Light and crisp to be sure - but sadly the finish and aftertaste isn’t as dry as I’d like here. For that reason, it lacks great drinkability. It’s got good carbonation, at least. O: Not bad. I’d say this one is a notch or two below the best of the style, though. Worth a try.

Yellow colored, bit of small floaters, small white lasting head. Aroma is of malt, grains bit of straw and some corn. Taste follows the nose, low+ noble bitterness, dryish finish. Low bodied, medium carbonation. Eh...

Ej SB, flaska. Bayersk arom. Lite tunn. Når inte upp till Augutiner mfl. Dock en fin hell. Välbalanserad.

Tegernseer Hell has a thick, foamy, white head, lots of heavy lacing left on the glass, and a yellow-straw appearance, with bountiful white specks suspended throughout. Some lazy bubble action, too. The aroma is subtle, but the drinker will detect sweet, white cracker from the barley malt and a kiss of hop grassiness. Taste is similar and mild. Mouthfeel is light, and Tegernseer Hell finishes crisp and refreshing. It is more similar than dissimilar to American lagers. RJT

Bottled, thanks Teja! Clear pale yellow, small head. Lightly fruity grassy nose. Mid dry with light-medium body and crisp mouthfeel. Fruity with mild bready malt, notes of grass. Mid bitter finish. Highly functional.

Bottle. Hazy golden yellow color, medium white head. Aroma of peppery freshly cut hay. Taste has sweet caramel at the start with some peppery straw. Decent.

On draft in Munich. Pours a clear golden color with a medium white head that left good lacing. The aroma is is malty, bready, and sweet. The taste is very similar and went along well with pretzels. The mouthfeel is light and drink ability is really high. One of my favorites beers from Munich.
