courtesy of fiulijn - clear dark ruby-brown beer under a solid beige foam left; nice lacework, strong malty and biscuity nose with hints of caramel; pretty sweet and full-bodied, slightly sticky; long malty toasted and caramelish aftertaste - solid though simplistic

Bottled, thanks fiulijn! Hazy mahogany colour, dense creamy head. Molasses, caramek and pepper. Sweet and full bodied with dense rounded mouthfeel. Caramel and mustard seeds. Low bitterness.

(Best before date 5 days prior tasting):

The Lure:
Tinny caramel and fruity soy sweetness are tickled by an alcoholic feather. Wild rice graininess and black pepper spiciness roam with the milky wanderer.

The Festivities:
Caramel and roastiness are both competent, perhaps benefiting from the low carbonation to expose their strengths. Sweetness remains simple though in the round mouthfeel, and fades into a whisper of an aftertaste. That vegetal/wild rice nature echoes in the back as well.

Transcendence:
A broth boils nearby and calls the nostrils to lunch.

Darker amber with a light thin small bubbled head. Toasty sweet to fruity nose. Minor caramel. A bit astringent. Low carbonation. Light body. Sweet up front, drying out quickly. Light German hops, a bit toasty.

Bottle, bought @ Ambrosetti, Berlin.
Pours a wonderful, clear, ruby red with a fine, medium, creamy, beige head. Sweet toasted caramel aroma, sweet rye bread and brown sugar. Medium carbonation, fine creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is extremely sweet and sugary at first. Then some fine roasted malts and deep caramel comes by and balances it out nicely. So not one of the sweetest German Dobbelbocks, but still a bit too sweet to be really good.

Bottle courtesy saxo. Frothy off-white good mostly deminishing head. Dark amber colour. Moderate malty and hoppy aroma. Moderate bitter flavor. Week licorice notes. Average moderate bitter finish. Oily palate.

Cask at National Winter Ales Festival. Dark rusty ale with. Decent offwhite head. Not much in the way of smell, just a light malt. Taste is a different prospect - warming, then a flood of confection malts, and a nice mild warm finish. Really pleasant. Dash of marzipan.
