4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 DanielBrown (3164) - Birmingham (via Leicester), West Midlands, ENGLAND - DEC 27, 2004
Bottle from Pete’s Dad’s holiday in Devon. Nice dark colours, with a small beige head. Very flavoursome Mild - at the higher ABV end of the style. Chocolate, winey notes, with a liqueur finish. Rounded, jelly mouthfeel. Sweet, jelly tot quality. Excelent stuff for my first bottled Mild.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Spiesy (2338) - Sydney, Greater London, AUSTRALIA - AUG 20, 2004
Bottled. Brown with a large bold tan head. Solid, try to the style, mild malt flavours. Quite a deal more kick though. Chewy, malts with caramel and soft white chocolate. Not a session ale by any stretch but quite a nice beer.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 rauchbier (3394) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - JUL 17, 2003
Bottle conditioned. Almost jet black with odd glints of red/brown. Good but shortlived creamy beige head and moderate condition. Enticing roast barley and chocolate aromas, with a suggestion of coffee. Roast barley is more dominant than the choc in the mouth, and the coffee disappears, with a slight fruitiness developing. Finish is long and fruity with a hint of berries and chocolate powder.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 leaparsons (7069) - Leicester, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - FEB 10, 2003
Nice reason to brew a beer! Anyway this is a stronger, dark mild of the type I enjoy. This is no different - good roasted malts, winter fruit, sweet chocolate and an earthy edge make this a good mild. Have another child, please!
