Dark chestnut. Caramel nose with molasses notes. Has hints of molasses but these accents are subdued by a very watery character.

Bottle from sampler set. Clear brown color with a large frothy white head that was lasting. Good sweet malty aroma. Medium body with thin texture. Moderate sweet malty flavor with an average finish. Refreshing fall beer.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 hopscotch (8217) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - JUL 12, 2008
Bottle... Dark, clear ruby lager with a mid-sized, wispy, off-white head. Lengthy, tight, white retention. The nose is a touch nutty and chocolaty-sweet... very restrained until the beer’s temperature hits 75°. Full-bodied and creamy with vivacious carbonation. Malty-sweet, as a bock should be, but not cloyingly so. Plenty of spicy, earthy bitterness to balance things out. Chocolate and a touch of coffee. Crisp, lightly bittersweet (more bitter than sweet) finish. I guess I’ll have to go against the grain on this one... I enjoyed it. Bottle provided by scubarex!
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 hopdog (7657) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 22, 2009
12oz bottle acquired in trade with daknole (thanks!). Poured a medium mahogany color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of nuttiness, light roast, and chocolate. Tastes of the same nuttiness, chocolate, roast, and caramel. Thin body.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 BeerandBlues2 (7418) - Hanover, Maryland, USA - DEC 24, 2004

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 daknole (7204) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - JAN 9, 2009
Bottle. Bland aroma and bland flavors. I cant say this beer was awful, but totally underwhelming. A dunkler bock? Ok if you say so...
2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 9/20 3fourths (6954) - Straßgiech, Bavaria, GERMANY - JAN 15, 2008
Pours a caramel cola color, and seems a bit transparent like a cola as well. Nose and flavor are one and the same: maple flavored malt syrup, some very faint vegetal notes, a pale and empty mouthfeel, and an empty finish.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 shrubber85 (5972) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - DEC 20, 2006
Bottle. Strong brown sugar malt aroma. Reddish amber with small head. Light brown sugar malt flavor with only a hint of astringency the style is noted for. Decent beer but doesn’t have much bock characteristics - like it’s Texas brother Shiner Bock.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 DonMagi (5598) - bantervile, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - JAN 14, 2008
Bottle from gift pack. Pours darker than expected. Aroma is sweetish biscuty pale malt, which chocolate note coming in but roasty comes in as it warms. Taste is similar soft mouthfeel like a sam smiths beer or omsehting easy going and sort of passed me by but not something id have again. Im wondering if both these beers got decent socres as iv just had a monster 3 hr exam and then 1 1/2 hours in the gym?
